    marvin johnson

rarely known outside of boxing circles and if anything, its usually for his two close fights with saad.

-won the light heavy weight title 3x's

    -olympic bronze medalist

-possessed incredible longevity in beating leslie stewat, eddie davis and charles williams in the last leg of his career

Conteh- on a worldwide level. He was a better fighter than Saad Muhammad, Marvin Johnson and many of that era. Many even thought the shell of Conteh even beat Saad in their fight in 1979, including the US network that televised the fight- a peak version (of 74) would have scored a fairly wide UD.

Talking of Montell. I was reading an old Boxing Illustrated the other week where 8 year old Stewart Hilton (brother of Matthew and Davey) was calling out other eight year olds- Tiger Smalls and Montell Griffin, for a fight saying he'd knock them both out on the same night. Great stuff.

ps. Stewart died in a car crash when he was 16. :-(

Gus Lesnevich deserves a mention. Nice thread, by the way.
