Here are some ways for us to win.

    1. We need to pick 7 solid amateurs in all the weight classes, and their back ups by 2009. EARLY 2009. Flyweight, Bantamweight Welterweight, Middleweight, Lt Heavyweight, Heavy, and SuperHeavy....We need to do a few things.

    A. Pick a great coaching team. The main coach this year sucks Mammoth balls. I'd pick someone like Sugar Ray Leonard, or say, Pernell Whitaker as the main coach. And a SOLID team behind him. David Reid and maybe Jermain Taylor on a part time basis. These 7 need to eat, breathe and sleep amateur boxing for the next 4 years. Also, why not hire some Cubans to coach? We need the very best.

    B. We need to get these fellas to SOUTH KOREA to train with amateur boxers down there. Sparring, and more sparring with these guys. Also, why not spar with some of the Friendlier Eastern Bloc nations?

    C. Conditioning. Andrade looked in decent condition, the others did not. Our athletes need to be stamina athletes as well as expert amateur boxers.

    :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Anyway; what happened was a mix of things. The head coach this year wasn't very good and didn't have the respect of the team to start off with. Then you had various disputes through the years; guys not getting the international experience they were supposed to get which was the reason they were in CS. And then some decisions were just bad. I thought Raynell Williams won to start with. Rau'shee Warren could have won but that's partially his own fault. They had all the potential to be the best team since 1988, but things just didn't go the right way.

    What?

You want me to lie and say I love to watch the corrupt scoring! It's so exciting watching countless clean punches go unscored!

I agree. The judging has been bad all around. The system as a whole needs to be changed.

A guy like Pernel or Sugar would have INSTANT credibility and mad respect as a head coach. Can you imagine a US Team with Sugar and Pernel as head coaches, and different seminars and days training with different medalists, like David Reid, RJJ, Evander, and Andre Ward, and Jermain "Drain the Main Vein" Taylor, PBF? What amateur is going to backtalk a guy like Leonard, or someone with street cred, like Whitaker?

We take these 7-12 guys for 1 month at a time to places like South Korea, or the Ukraine, to run and spar, and get coached. We find some Cubans, say even Casamayor, to show them how things are done in Cuba, where the Medalists are plenty. Sparring with the Chinese Squads, and sparring in different gyms across the USA like the Kronk, or the gyms of Las Vegas.

And we only take those 8-12 that are committed to London, 2012. No girls, no parties, no nothing. You run, spar, hit the heavy bag, and double ended bag, and speed bag, skip rope for 3 hours, and then dinner followed by 4 hours of tape review and lights out for a 5am 7 mile run.

That's because they turn pro at 16 and the amateur system in Mexico isn't as developed. Same in the Phillipines.

    AM's & Pro's are 2 different animals.
(More than ever, with this bull**** scoring system employed)

OLY Boxing is better compared to fencing now.
