Very true, squire. It's not even his style to chase the KO. He was trying to get his opponents out of there pre-title run but he's just as happy as taking you to slick school over 12 rounds as he is knocking you out, especially these days. Usyk actually really upped the pressure on Dubois after the low blow and broke him mentally and physically. There was definitely a different energy about him after that point.
Thanks for the correct translation I often wonder how much is getting lost in translation when I'm watching foreign fighter's speaking in their native tongue over here and in the US.
it was definitely a bitter-sweet fight for Dubois for sure, squire. I'm sure he's now learned not to pee off certain fighters unless he can actually finish the job...
Yes and JTFO KO ie. Jab the [expletive] out KOs and no mas win are the two most prestigious methods of victory too and Usyk did the double whammy
All to.true, squire. Beating a man into a conscious submission choice rather than a clean KO is the ultimate domination. Usyk stole his soul...
@Joeywill I agree with the thread title; Usyk is not a finisher. This really shouldn’t be controversial, it’s a simple objective observation. As mentioned earlier, Inouye is a finisher. If he hurts you, he will finish you. But the fact that Usyk does not go for the KO is not a sign of weakness or fear of being countered: it might be a sign of sadism. Usyk is not a puncher in the Mike Tyson / George Foreman sense, but he hits full-sized heavyweights hard enough that nobody ever goes chasing him. He and Mayweather are similar in that sense. Usyk just doesn’t break guys down physically, he breaks them down mentally, as well. Usyk can be hurt, he can lose rounds…but he cannot shaken in his iron resolve. Usyk always has as another gear and his opponents know this. Anybody who goes up against him knows that they will be pulled into deep water suffering and there isn’t a damned thing they can do about. Usyk reminds me of a lone wolf stalking a buffalo over the course of days. Painful bites into flesh here and there, but never fatal. The buffalo might even get a good horn or hoof in the wolf, but the wolf just continues to stalk day after day. Fear of living and fatigue now start outweighing the fear of death, but the wolf doesn’t care if you want to live or die one way or the other. He will do what he does when he wants and no one can stop him.
Hey man, it's often a psychological thing. Gotta learn to relax and pace yourself. Don't be tense trying too hard to impress as soon as you get started. Wait, are we talking about boxing...?
So you think Usyk simply couldn't finish Chisora? You reckon Usyk was 100% his best vs Chisora? LOL Usyk goes up in gear if he needs to. If Usyk wanted to finish Joshua he could have done, but he wasn't attempting to KO him. He never brutally assaulted Joshua like he did Fury, because Joshua didn't require Usyk to take such a risk. Btw Joshua was in trouble in the 12th round of the first fight, and I think even Usyk said he could have KO'd Joshua but didn't need to and "AJ has a family". Usyk went to a gear we've never seen him in in the Fury fight 8-9th round. It was frightening. If Usyk can crack Fury's jaw, he could do it to joshua. I think the reason we saw Gear 5 usyk is because Usyk knew he was in trouble if he didn't step it up, because after 7 rounds many people had Fury 3 rounds ahead. If Usyk hadn't have KO'd/KD Fury, he would have lost on the cards.
No I dont think Usyk couldve finished off Chisora. If he could he would have. No I dont think Usyk couldve finished off Joshua in either one of their fights. If he could he wouldve.
