It wasn't exactly amateur though no head guards etc Also why would he fight Joyce for some interim belt when he could fight AJ for the full title, do you really think Joyce has any chance against Usyk
I have/had no issue with Usyk pursuing his mandatory status. I was among a handful on here arguing his side at the time. Most didn't like it because the fans wanted Undisputed. But he is a hypocrite with how he has pulled the ladder up behind him the last few years, if I'm honest about it. Now, whether I think Joyce ever had a chance is besides point. Again it simply comes down to that it was not a pro fight. And since he didn't fight him in the pros, it shouldn't be claimed as a win over a guy he not only hasn't fought but refused to fight
You can't hurt what you can't hit Them unsighted weird angle punches that Fury throws are going to rattle you more even though they are mostly arm punches.
It can be argued he beat a better version of Joyce he was definitely slimmer and faster, all Usyk said was Joyce is an easy opponent and given they did in fact fight he is more than entitled to such an opinion regardless of whether it was a pro or amateur fight
No way, Joyce was pretty much a novice when he fought Usyk, he'd only been boxing for 5 years at that point while Usyk was already an Olympic champion.
Probably but that faster version didn't have much success I doubt an even fatter and slower Joyce of 2021-2 would do any better, would be like a sloth chasing a cheetah
It's not surprising Chisora hit Usyk alot more than Joshua did. Joshua was far too tentative and didn't really use any of his physical strength and size and decided to box with the smaller man. Chisora is alot less talented but he atleast gave it his all and put pressure on Usyk.
Completely disagree, I believe this is what Usyk genuinely thinks. None of Usyk's picks are surprising enough to induce suspicion, I also just don't think Usyk is the type of person who would answer boxing questions like this with subliminal ill intentions. He also has no incentive to lie. Could he really put AJ or Dubois in quickest, best defence, footwork, IQ or hardest fight? No I don't think so. The only category they would have a chance in is hardest puncher. But Chisora is a legitimate pick. Rewatch the fight, Chisora was landing hard power punches to the body throughout their fight, even in rounds that Usyk clearly won. Usyk has an iron chin but a relatively weaker body, it's perfectly understandable that Usyk was more affected by those, than AJ who was boxing more with Usyk and looking to jab more, and Dubois who frankly didn't really land anything significant other than the infamous shot in Round 5.
Joyce peak performance was in 2020, he's been on the decline since then. He was probably past prime when he turned pro.
Usyk fought Chisora in a shoe box sized ring and no one in the division can apply the kind of constant pressure Chisora does or possesses his combination of attributes. Chisora is teak-tough, relentless, applies constant pressure for 12 rounds and the only way you can stop him from doing so, even if you're 250-280lb murderous punching giant, is to spark him out cold. Even if AJ could fight like Chisora he'd get knocked out by Usyk. He doesn't have Chisora's chin or engine and Usyk would make him look like Herman Munster if he tried to walk him down. As AJ himself said he wanted to KO Usyk but it's like trying to swat a fly because Usyk is extremely difficult to pin down This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Usyk hurt AJ in round 3 of their first fight and you could clearly see AJ felt the power of the first backhand Usyk cracked him with seconds into round 1 of that fight too. AJ knew he had to be wary of walking into something This content is protected
He's certainly much more tricky than all the other HWs Usyk has fought and that huge reach advantage makes things a lot more difficult for Usyk. But that being said, Usyk stood right in front of him and walked him down. He was more stationary against Dubois too. I don't think he has the same legs anymore
Currently Usyk is the clear number one in the division coming off a career best win over Tyson Fury Then you got Joyce who struggled against cab driver and wannabe vampire Kash Ali
