Hard to let it go when you just output a great performance, Saudi money is on the table and awareness for Ukraine is still needed. Plus he just loves to fight and is fairly good at it.

Of course he should keep fighting it that's what he wants to do. But my humble preference as a fan and admirer is that he retires now completely on top with an undefeated record. Sure he can take on more challenges and make a lot more money but he's fighting much bigger men and putting his health on the line. Boxing isn't tennis.

The rematches were by contract. He didn't just give them rematches.

Nah. I don't think there's anyone left that gives him too much trouble, unless he ages overnight. Which in fairness is a possibility, but since he's lived the life of an athlete to a t that's probably a ways off too.

He's making the best money of his career now. I'd love to see him have a few big money fights where he comes in as the A-side before he rides off into the sunset as the king :ggg

He could retire after Fury 1, like Lewis did after VK. Ducks nothing and no one.

Agreed, I kind of love how he isn't protecting the zero

I kind of like the idea of the ageing champion passing the baton to the next guy. It's not like he has taken huge beatings throughout his career

I think he should fight one more year and call.it quits, as he can age overnight. But that guy didn't look 38 last night, he still moved superbly and might have tightened his defence up a little

I think Dubois/Parker will be next

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most of the guys coming from countries like Ukraine fight in the backyards of their opponent? I cannot recall a major boxing event with world titles being held in an Eastern Europen country. Now, I love me some Usyk, but him and guys from that region have no choice but to fight in other countries. I here guys giving him major props for fighting abroad, but is it really that big of a deal if it's common place for fighters in that region? Not hating, genuinely curious. I never fought on forgein soil, so I have no idea how difficult it is.

I think he’ll continue on because there is still so much money to be made over the next couple years for him. He’s just starting to break into the high 7 figures for his fight purses. Hard to turn down that kind of life changing money.

If he hasn't taken the damage, and is still fit, he still has opportunities to fight, improve his record, and make more money.

For example, if he could unify with DDD or Parker, then go back to CW and unify, that would be another solid achievement. I don't doubt he could do it, so why not challenge himself?

That is what separates him from the rest. His willingness to risk it all for more glory.

it is interesting that you say that usyk should retire. why? he really has not taken that much punishment and seems to has his wits and body all still together, even at his age.
have yet to see any one here pose the question, "fury should retire". he HAS taken more and more punishment in each fight, does not respect himself or the sport by allowing himself to get way out of shape between bouts and his use of alcohol and drugs. and it shows.

Well, you're on to something. Looks like Ukraine just doesn't organize those big events. It's a different in EU countries from the region, like Poland or Latvia, but the Ukrainian always seems to fight abroad.

Still, I looked up Wlad and Loma, and it looks like most of their chamipionship fights were held in Germany and the US respectively, with few German/American opponents, which made most locations at least neutral.

I also don't know what it feels like to fight in your opponents hometown, but there must be a reason camps negotiate it. Usyk doesn't seems to care, that's for sure. He even didin't make a fuss over Fury's beard and Obelix trunks in Rijad, which were serious issues (BTW, I kinda like Fury, but he's a dirtbag, will do it if he can get away with it), so I think my point about him doing it for the challenge still stands.

Usyk doesn't seem to be especially money motivated.

Everyone is, but it's a matter of degree.

He's not an idiot and doesn't seem to be the guy that's going to blow all his winnings on hookers and blow.

I'm sure he's set financially if that means living a comfortable life for the rest of his days.

Boxing is tough on the body and tougher on the brain.

When you count his amateur bouts, he's been training and fighting for a real long time.

He's at the top of his game. He's moved up to HW and beat the two top HWs of his generation.

What's left for him to prove?

As much as I like to watch him fight, the best move for him is to walk away now with his health still good and money in the bank.

All you had to do is watch Mike Tyson wobble around the ring against Paul and then say he didn't remember much of it to see a long boxing career is not good for you.
