What do we think Matchroom actually want? They’re working with Usyk so obviously it’s good if he’s successful.. but he’s not as marketable and is a threat to their number 1 - Joshua. There’s also the issue with Usyk being Joshua’s mandatory potentially getting in the way of Joshua vs Fury. If Chisora wins then you’d assume he’d be happy to be bought off in he short term so Fury vs Joshua happens. Because of that they’re probably wanting a Chisora win really.
Imagine the "PPV millions £" that would be needed to get guys like this to fight these days .... This content is protected
Totally disagree. Its allright for aj walking away from the ruiz 2 fight 45 million up. And the elite attracting the big money. But guys like whyte, chisora etc cant walk away with 1.5 million each pre tax. From that you have to pay 50 percent tax. Training camps. Sparring partners. All other expenses. These guys arent elite level...but they have fought their way up not far off the best of the rest. Put themselves through tough training csmps every time. Took thousands of heavyweight punches. Fought their way to near enough the top fighting top guys. At some point you,ve got toask yourself if its worth boxing if you we,re getting paid what guys we,re wanting you to be paid. Someone said chisora was slurring yesterday. How will he end up in retirement is anyones guess. All for the fans enjoyment which chisoras provided tbf to him at probably a huge cost to himself. People seriously want to give him 30,000 in his hand for some of these fights. Had to fight fury x2, whyte x2, klitchko, takam all to get to usyk for 30,000 in his hand. Ppv,s probably the best thing to happen to boxing otherwise it would probably be finished by now. Thats the reality of it. What i dont agree with is the poor undercards....which i think eddies at the kidding with. The qualities been going down on them considerably over the last few years. But chisora and guys like that deserve their 1.5 million. Especially if guys like mayweather and joshuas making 50/60 million a fight sometimes against guys that are average as well.
Haye Bellew and Chisora are doing Eddie's promoting job for him. It's cringefest central with that trio at the moment. Bellew calling Chisora "my mate" in a tweet then 2 seconds after he's "my brother" then going to Usyk saying "don't hurt my friend tomorrow, be careful with him". Haye obviously has gone into overdrive talking about how Chisora gives him 100% now and how there's no stone left unturned and how we're all in for a shock tonight. However saying that, I too will be going down the river route tonight just so I can see Chisora flat on his face and his two phoney sidekicks finally stop with their verbal diarrhea
Bellew always tries to cosy up to fighters on shows. One week he's Joshua's best mate, then he's Chisora's best pal. It's all so he can stay firmly centre of attention.
A classic 2020 Saturday night - an announcement from Boris and then some cracking Boxing (hopefully) .
Usyk by decision looks the best bet looking at the odds imo. I do think Chisoras punch resistance is on the decline but I think this will be more like the Fury losses, without the stoppage.
Regarding tax, a lot of individual sportspeople have residency in tax haven countries like Monaco. How do we know that this isn't the case for many boxers? Whatever the case, there's no way superstars like Anthony Joshua are paying tax in full.
Probably true actually. What can you do tho. The people that make them laws are the same people that take advantage of them. Probably a different discussion tbh.
