I love this fight! Usyk will definitely not have things his own way Actually 50/50 for me and what a whopper for your first fight at heavyweight!
Total respect for both boxers. Both have a lot to lose here. Terrific match up if it comes off. Any idea upon the location?
Was about to ask the same thing about location. With them both being Europeans (and my own schedule, admittedly) I'd like to see this as a European fight. With Hearn having signed Usyk to DAZN it seems a very realistic possibility. Likewise, echoing your comments of great fight if it comes off and respect to them. Probably a passing of the torch of sorts fight where I predict Usyk to come through, but an admirable first heavyweight first whatever the outcome.
Povetkin is actually smaller than Usyk. Povetkin is a fighter in decline and it does not take a boxing genius to see that Usyk wins this by comfortable UD or late stoppage. Cherry pick.
Usyk is clearly not messing around with his HW career. Povetkin is a top 6 or 7 HW and still dangerous, Usyk should be able to win a decision but he is going to have his HW chin checked in this one. If OA wins this he could be legitimately considered a top 5 HW after one fight, crazy.
Parker/Chisora/Ortiz or maybe even go after the WBA regular? AJ is going to be fighting Pulev next, Whyte isn’t going to risk his mandatory position, Breazeale will be finished. There’s not going to be much choice. A big Fight in Britain vs Joyce possibly?
Charr or Joyce? You must be joking. He will be coming off a win against a legit top 6 HW! Whyte, Ortiz or any of the top three. Fury would take him on and stylistically what a match up it would be.
If this fight happens and Usyk wins I can see him challenging Charr for his WBA belt to simply become Joshua’s mandatory. It’s a shame this fight isn’t taking place in the UK as it would do very well over here.
Regular belt does not make you mandatory. You would have to vacate the belt in order to become mandatory through the rankings. Regardless the WBO have already said they would make him mandatory if he moved up to HW. Hearn and Joshua wont be able to avoid him indefinitely and it was a smart move getting him on board with Matchroom to keep the money in house (albeit in a co-promotional role only)
As I’ve just said, Whyte isn’t going to fight him? Why would he when he’s got a title fight next? Fury and Wilder will be in a rematch or fighting Whyte next. So they’re all ruled out. Joshua has a mandatory against Pulev so them two are both ruled out. He’s left with Charr, Parker Joyce and Ortiz - like I said before.
So Whyte will sit on his mandatory for the next 12 months? Charr is a joke and Usyk has already embarrassed Joyce they will not go near him again.
One hell of a bold cherry pick ! Usyk could have justified fighting Kevin Johnson for his first genuine heavy got to give him kudos going straight in with a live dog surely.
