Usyk vs Daddy Bowe

Usyk is too smart for Bowe and too mentally tough. He wouldn’t fight Bowe like Evander did, he would put constant pressure on him, give him angles and make him eat that left hand from different angles. Hooks, straight lefts, right jabs. Bowe would tire and get frustrated. Tough fight for Usyk because of Bowes size but that’s the only advantage Bowe has. Usyk by wide UD.

 

True but Usyk has other tools in his arsenal that pose Bowe problems as I said in my first post. Bowe has slow feet, slower than Joshua's, Usyk's movement will be very problematic for Bowe and Usyk is great at taking away an opponents jab, Bowe is going to get beaten to the punch, out maneuvered and countered, Usyk won't lead like Holyfield and won't stand in the pocket and trade, he'll just out box Bowe.

 

Fast feet doesn't meant better feet. Saunders had quicker feet than Canelo , look what happened there. Bowe had better footwork than Joshua. Better at cutting off the ring. Better at positioning himself to stay balanced. Better at stepping into the jab. AJ really didn't do anything better than Bowe.

 

Bowe doesn't have better footwork either though. I agree Bowe is superior to AJ in almost every aspect. Joshua has quicker feet and is better on the back foot but I say Bowe is better at cutting off the ring but that's not really much of a compliment as Joshua sucks when he has to press.

I also think Joshua is better defensively, just the fact he keeps his hands up makes him harder to hit that Bowe who's defence at times seemed to be to block punches with his face. He all too often just walked into range with his hands at chest height.

But other than that, jab, power, work rate, heart, chin, inside work etc Bowe is better than Joshua. Still don't think it's enough to beat Usyk though, Usyk won't give Bowe the same opportunities to work inside like Evander and Usyk seems to have a good chin and so I just don't see how he gets to Usyk enough to stop him and stop him he'd need to because no way Bowe out boxes Usyk.

 

No way, Pierre Coetzer gave Bowe problems and he was nowhee near Usyk`s level, Usyk has more amateur experience than anybody Bowe fought, his skills are more evolved than anybody Bowe beat, Holy brawled when Bowe beat him, Usyk would fight smarter with better head movement and angles, he`d toy with Bowe.

 

I think it's possible, even in spots we saw Joshua have success walking Usyk down a little bit and going to the body Riddick Bowe esque in rounds 6 and 8. He unfortunately abandoned the tactic though.

Usyk never stood still but he was also in mid and close range firing off combinations a lot too and was mostly playing chess with Joshua instead of dancing around all night jabbing like Hide and Donald. Joshua mostly had no answer when Usyk got into close range besides that right hand he timed Usyk with in the 6th. Bowe would. Joshua seemed gunshy too, likely because of Usyks feints, his limited gas tank, potential punches coming back at him and because he still hasn't mentally recovered from the Ruiz loss

Imo if Bowe did loose he'd give Usyk a far harder time than Joshua did. I'd say it's a 50/50 fight but thats just me. I can see your point because Bowe did struggle with guys that could move.

I heard he got dressed from head to toe in tweed for the fight. Imagine the sweating he be doing after rnd 1

 

Oh no doubt Bowe gives Usyk a much tougher fight, Bowe's better than AJ and unlike AJ he won't be trying to maintain distance, he'll be looking to get to Usyk and work up close, I just don't think he'll be able to do so often enough to stop Usyk or get the decision.

 

Usyk by KO. Bowe is not in the same league with Usyk skillwise.

 

Usyk has secured only one good win, that being against the gun shy AJ who had no Plan B in adverse situations; and everyone is just putting Usyk against every HOFer HW of yesteryear known to mankind. Usyk definitely has a diverse skillset, footwork and punch selection but he isn't tested against a genuine heavyweight who can actually box and isn't gun shy, like Bowe. Bowe is a much bigger and equally skilled man who can trade jabs and unleash lethal counters specially in close range. Bowe either outboxes Usyk or just TKOs him.
