I rate Holyfield's achievements higher, clearly.

Holyfield fought at light heavyweight (178) in the amateurs. When he turned pro, it was at cruiserweight, where the weight limit at the time was 190.

When Evander turned pro, boxing still had same day weigh-ins. So he was under 190 when he fought. And Evander fought other guys who were either coming up in weight (Qawi) or were natural cruiserweights (180s).

When Evander made the move to heavyweight, he MOVED UP.

He had to gain weight. Add muscle. Increase his power. I'm not going to debate how he did them in this thread. But he was a guy who 'moved up.'

And Evander beat great fighters at the weight for world titles.

Usyk, on the other hand, is a weight bully. He fought at heavyweight (200 pounds - not 178) as an amateur. Usyk won the gold medal at the Olympics as an amateur in 2012. He lost in the Olympics as a heavyweight in 2008 in the same division as Deontay Wilder.

Usyk also took part in the WBS (more or less turning pro - getting paid, not fighting by amateur rules, in longer fights) as heavyweight fighting big guys like Joe Joyce and Junior Fa.

Then, when Usyk "officially" turned pro (even though he'd been a pro for a while), Usyk did so at CRUISERWEIGHT (because the division had increased it's weight limit 10 pounds - since Holyfield's era - to 200 pounds instead of 190).

That way, Usyk could dry out, rehydrate up to 215/220 and win some belts down at cruiser. (Unlike his contemporary Wilder, who, even though he didn't weigh any more than Usyk, turned pro as a heavyweight.)

Now, in his 30s, Usyk is "moving up" ... even though he isn't. He's always steps in the ring at this weight. He just dries out for weigh-ins.

When you look at who Holyfield fought at cruiser (at below 190 who were actual hall of a famers) and who he fought at heavyweight (actual hall of famers), Usyk isn't really even close.

Wake me up when Usyk beats someone as good as Tyson and Bowe.

When Holyfield was 32, he'd already been the world cruiserweight champion and the world heavyweight champion twice.

Usyk doesn't even dance better than Holyfield. (LOL)

Uysk is a very very talented fighter, the op is an idiot to compare uysk vs holyfield at this point. i think he got the responses he wanted. Uysks run of wins at CW is deeper than Holyfields though. But then again Usyk is older and more established as a fighter at CW, Holyfield moved up early in his career, his pro career is a long drawn out one! he did his best work in 10-15years as a pro, guy didnt need to fight in the 21st century at all. Uysk wont have that long, max 10years as a pro and thats pushing it, has the deeper CW resume, wont have the chance to come near Holyfields HW resume, if he beats two of the big 4, Fury, Wilder, Joshua, Ruiz. Then hes had a great career.

We all know Usyk is a talented fighter. But he doesn't have a better resume. And he took the easier road, cutting weight to win in a smaller division.

Name a cruiserweight Usyk beat who will be in the Hall of Fame?

    I don't see any. Huck?

Mairis Breidis would beat Qawi, dont care what anyone says.
Yet to see how far Gassiev can go at HW.
Michael Hunter is already beating up big men at HW.

these 3 are very good fighters.

3 high quality wins. And Holyfield had one high quality win at CW?

rest my case. but ofc youre gonna think these lot are complete bums because you see things with rose tinted glasses. the cw division back then was crap, this is the strongest cw division in history. ofc you will name aload of great cruiserweights now that all fought each other in there primes, wontcha?

As a fellow American, my heart says Holy but my head says Usyk h2h at Cruiser. At heavy that's where the question marks are here ! I really think Holy being on peds harms his achievements some, it broke my heart to hear that !

So you think Briedis is a hall of famer? We'll see.

Michael Hunter? (LOL) Like I said, when Usyk beats someone as good as Tyson and Bowe, let me know.

    Usyk isn't even close.

    Shades him how?

Holyfield beat a half-dozen hall of famers, won the world cruiserweight title and heavyweight titles a handful of times.

Usyk can't even get in the ring with Takam without pulling something.

I know everyone like Usyk. But his resume isn't close to Holyfield's. Not by a mile.

Usyk has a lot of all-timers and a lot of hardware at heavyweight to win before he's even in the discussion.
