I found this on YouTube earlier with him in the amateurs against Vernon Linklater, who is pretty bummy for a southpaw, but was still landing aplenty on him. This content is protected Also Valery Abadzhyan, the guy who KO'd him as an amateur, was a switch hitter. So in all likelihood, he KO'd him from the southpaw stance. This content is protected
In these videos i don't see any noticeable weaknesses to the southpaw stance that he didn't display vs orthodox fighters. Vernon is the best footage we can go off of and Lewis looked comfortable moving around and teeing off on that guy with lead rights, he didn't need to set everything off the jab and he still got it going. Stylistically Lewis had all the weapons to tame a southpaw. He never ducked Moorer btw, other way around
Bad southpaws, Usyk is an ATG southpaw. Look what Dubois did to Lerena who's a decent southpaw, then look what Usyk did to Dubois.
Dubois looked pretty bad against Lerena. Take away Okolies boring hugging and he resembles Lewis a bit more, he had an easier time with Lerena he just didn't knock him out. I can see how Usyk would beat Lewis but there's no way it's one way traffic he's better than both Fury and aj. He is leagues better than aj thats for sure. Lewis is basically Fury with KO power, a hard jab, less head movement and superior infighting skills.
I'll say this: Usyk is a hell of a lot more proven against super heavyweights than Lewis is against southpaws.
Sure he did, because he had a torn ACL. Okolie fought terrified went 10 mind-numbingly dull rounds with Lerena, Dubois aggressively KO'd him in the 2nd round, with one leg. Sure Daniel looked bad in the first round, but even compromised, he had a very easy time with him in the 2nd. Lewis is 3 inches shorter than Fury, with an inch less of a reach. Usyk would be ready for and adjust to anything he'd have brought to the table.
Dayuum! I just watched Lewis vs southpaw Greg Gorrell. It took him 5 rounds and about 400 full power bombs to get a 20lbs lighter walking punch bag fat LHW out of there who was stopped in 13 of his 17 losses and had been stopped in 1, 2, and 3 rounds respectively prior to that up at CW Level and was subsequently stopped in 3 a few months later down at HW Level and in 2 the following year, again down at HW Level, and when he ventured back up to CW Level again later that year he was stopped in 1. Look at how hard Lewis was trying to blast him out of there. He was trying to take Gorrell's head off and cave his ribcage in with every punch but Gorrell who was a small CW at best soaked it all up. I'm starting to think Lewis might have been a bloody featherfist And what do the Lewis faithful make of this? Lewis signature dirty move. Outrageously dirty and he's doing that to a way smaller and lighter tomato can who he held every conceivable physical advantage over who was 20lbs lighter but it was more like 60lbs in natural weight. And he couldn't even wobble him with a shot which was so cheap it was free Timestamped This content is protected You have 370 + fights amateur and pro combined to find a single instance of Usyk doing something even 0.1% as dirty as that
That was a suspicious stoppage. Lerena was stopped right at the bell when it should have been ruled a 2nd knockdown Fury's height and lack of power just made his body an easy target. He shouldn't look there against Lennox because Lewis will find that uppercut. Usyk is undefeated for a reason, he has some of the highest iq that I've seen and would throw Lewis off, but he missed a big chunk of the division and the fan scorecards and from my own observation saw Usyk lose several rounds to Fury and aj. I know you believe Usyk is the h2h goat, but that theory will undergo rigorous testing in the next couple decades
To me, if you're looking to cash out, bur fail to fight your number 1 contender which is also a mandatory challenger, it's a duck. We need to keep boxing healthy and ensure boxers get the shot at the crown if they deserve it.
Nice! For years I’ve tried to find video of the Miroshnichenko fight but haven’t been able to. I’m sure it’s the same story with the Abadzhyan KO. Explains why lennox always has seemed so bitter towards EE fighters throughout the years
I didn't call any of you American bro, Ive said that you guys are as annoying as diehard Americans are with their idols when it comes to Usyk.
And its irrelevant because Steward fine tuned Lewis's technical flaws he had earlier in his career. Lewis was also 18 years old vs that Vernon guy in the amateurs for crying out loud alot of context is missing here. Lewis lost to Tyrell Biggs in the amateurs who wasn't a southpaw....all these silly southpaw arguments for an amateur boxer who was still a teenager is ridiculous. Should we bring up Usyk getting dropped and stopped by Korobov when he was 19 years old ? That's fair game right ? Since we're using an 18 year old Lewis in these arguments ?
