I can't understand Lyakowich being so stupid. This could be very important fight for him, as they both were titleholders one can imagine the winner getting another titleshot easily. And he is practically giving it away by coming seriously overweight.

Good weight for Valuev, especially if you substract a few pounds for the chain around his neck ;-)

While I do not agree with the move up in weight, I think it was done on purpose. Lyakovich's camp may feel that he would need the extra weight so that he does not get pushed around in the ring by the big man. Look how Ruslan C. beat Valuev, by timing him because he is slow with his hands, not as much boxing on the move. You do not need to change your plan by putting on weight because it will slow your reflexes, stamina and overall endurance but I am not definitely inside their camp to know exactly why they have done so.
What should be true is that a good small man beats an average big man all the time (Valuev vs Chagaev was a perfect example). Evidentely, the Lyakhovich camp does not think that their man is all that much better from a boxing stand point. I still have moderate hopes that Serguei will get inside and will punch underneath too...

I wonder if I'm the only one impressed with Valuev consistently being in shape (of sorts). You get heavyweights these days fluctuating in weight, sometimes wildly. And yet Valuev is metronomically consistent.

Liakhovich is fat, lazy and inactive. I predict a Valuve late round tko.

Have to go with Valuev by decision in a boring fight.

Its only 12 pounds from the weight of his last 2 fights, and 10 from his win over Guinn in 2004. That says? Its not quite as bad as we're making it! It's still not the sign I'd prefer to have seen.

It seems Valuev has more of the right look, but looks can be decieving, sometimes:yep

While I've picked Lyakhovich to win, If Valuev is in better shape and turns it up in the later rounds???:scaredas: :scaredas: :yikes :yikes

It took me a while to get over the Briggs nightmare!! For christ sake, he was seconds from VICTORY:-( :-( :-(

    I disagree.

Liak is not going to benefit by being fatter around the waist and hoping that he's now so heavy that Valuev won't be able to move him around.
So what if Valuev can move him around the ring? Its not like being ten pounds lighter will mean he'll be tossed around and batter.

Being 10 pounds lighter (as he should have been) and having Valuev able to move him around the ring is great trade off for having improved stamina and punch output, late. Liak won't have a game plan that has him getting in alot of close contact and wrestling with the 325 pound Valuev, anyway.

That extra fat is not going to benefit him, at all. It'll greatly hinder him. The whole idea of being heavier so your opponent won't be able to move you around as easily is a load of crap, if you ask me.

Bottom line ; he lacked self control, didn't eat properly, and failed to come into this fight in his best condition, period. For GOD's sake, Liak is wider in the gut area than the 7 foot Valuev is.

I guess Valuev can move Liak around at 238, but can't at 250? LOL No offense, but that's rediculous.

How much is Liakhovich being paid? I wonder if he is looking for a retirement fund. So, he can go back to sitting pool side, drinking ice tea in sunny Arizona, and sitting on the couch eating donuts, watching tv all day.

Acctually, I take that back. After watching the weigh-in video posted above by Tom, Sergei looks more trim then he did against Briggs at a higher weight. Liakhovich has probably taken up weight training.

Against, Briggs he had saggy boobs. Liakhovich is in better shape at a higher weight, just check out the video!
