the only thing remotely interesting about a valuev fight is the oddity/novelty aspect of it (or even put more negatively, the freakshow aspect of it)

I think Bidenko would be a more worthy opponent but the spin will be that Valuev already beat him even though Taras was completely green at the time.

I read on here that Meehan was the choice.

I was referring to fights like the Cliif Etienne and Jameel McCline fights, yeah, I read those fights were very competitive, I need to watch those fights sometime. I meant he'll probably get an easy defense where he'll stop the challenger in like a couple rounds.:good

What in the world is going on with the heavyweight division these days.
Mehaan would be a complete inexplicable choice of opponent. What would be the point of such a matchup.

Why can't Valuaev take on at least Rahman, Brewster, Toney, Aurolea. I mean there are a ton of better fighters out there than Mehaan. Valuev is just coming off a win over past his prime Ruiz, this is just so disappointing again and inacceptable. What excuse does he have for taking on Mehaan.

None of those guys you mentioned deserve a title shot. Maybe Arreola but Goosen is for what ever reason moving him slow. At least Meehan has been a semi active fighter.

What does Mehaan done in the past or recently to deserve a title shot. He was never a serious contender to begin with. Who has he beaten? Plus, nobody is even remotely interested in seeing this one. A victory over the fighters I mentioned would mean a lot more. I do not kow how long you follow boxing but Meehan lost to Rahman and Brewster in his prime.

Activity is not the only criteria in order to deremine if you deserve a title shot. Record, reputation also come into play. Remember Vitali also gets a title shot and he has not boxed in ages.

Anyone from Golota, Meehan, Dimitrenko, Arreola is good. Lyakhovitch must get a single win to get next shot, beside that Valuev already beat him as well Ruiz twice. I feel Biedenko need one more ranked opponent before shot.

It would be good to see Biedenko, Dimitrenko, Golota, Meehan in the 4 man elliminator.

How many title shots are you going to allow washed up bums like Rahman and Toney to have? They have had their chances and blew it. Arreola is not a bad choice but Meehan is not any less deserving than the others. Rahman's name is garbage right now when was his last decent win? Meehan's wins lately have been better than Rahman's :deal

I will ignore the fight regardless.

Only thing I agree with you is that I won't watch that fight.

Well, why not make an eliminator Mehaan-Toney, Rahman, Brewster first?

If Meehan gets a title shot, it would be horrific.

What's next, WALD vs. Audley Harrison?
