Ramirez wasn't good. Neither was Martinez, or Salido.

There's a lot of killers in the division - Corrales is better.
Corrales, Berchelt, Walters, Gamboa, Salido, Berchelt. If you consider Gervonta a killer, then Gervonta.

They're good wins. Martinez is this generations typical consistent title holder, that's a good win.
You're purposely omitted GRJ and Walters.

Loma doesn't have much time, 3 years left of his prime - that's 9 fights if he's lucky before he's on the way down. Lomachenko wants legacy fights. He just wants the best out there. Everyone was busy and Salido ran away. Corrales was alienated after being offered peanuts (most probably around $75k).
Loma's team is preventing him from building a legacy.

I disagree that Corrales is better than Sosa. I'm not all that familiar with Berchelt yet. Walters, looked like sh!t and didn't even try his last time out. Salido is an old man, hanging around due to careful match making in a division that isn't deep as far as actual talent. I don't consider Davis a killer. I still consider him an up and comer. Pedraza fought the worst fight he could fight against Davis for some reason. Didn't make sense at all. I wouldn't pick Davis over Sosa, or Walters at this point in time. Gamboa has been highly inactive. We don't know what he has left.

A guy built up on all cans, with a decent looking record doesn't make a good win. It's a win. Those types of wins don't tell us much if a guy is traveling the third world and beating nobodies, then a name guy beats him. It looks nice on the resume, but that's it. He didn't beat Salido. And Martinez shouldn't of even had a belt. I get what you are saying though. Lomachenko can solidify his resume so it shouldn't be an issue.

I like how people have conveniently thrown Fortuna under the bus, who a lot seemed to rate when he was undefeated. Loma vs Sosa is a good solid fight, is it the best fight in the division? no but Sosa is a credible top 10 operator.

By giving him the WBA SFW champion (Sosa)? Straight after the former WBA champion (Walters) & prior to that the WBO champ Roman Martinez?? All in 9 pro fights. Yeah good one... LOL What ridiculously high standards are you holding this kid too?

So far i have heard from some of you he shouldn't be fighting Sosa because he has already Drew (though i admit he lost) to Walters! Which is as dumb as suggesting Jack shouldn't fight Degale due to him losing to Groves LOL Many champions in the past have been slated to fight opponents who have losses or draws with someone who said champion has already slayed prior! Nothing new! Fact is Sosa legitimized himself recently & is a worthy opponent. Regular champion granted but it sets Loma up with the WBA nicely.. I suspect fight #10 will be a bit special too!

P.S Golovkin is fighting WBA champ Jacobs & its his best fight to date! Perspective folks!

This is a fallacy IMO Was fairly close going into the 11th (i reject the scorecards) Sosa had been down but it was more a push and Fortuna was down in the 10th but again was more a push when he was in trouble and trying to hold on. Fortuna also deducted a point in the 10th too for deliberately spitting mouth guard out. I had Fortuna ahead by a slight margin. Sosa simply ground him down! Great win for Sosa and an excellent finish. Stop trying to de-legitimize it. I suspect if Loma had now been slated to fight Fortuna many of you would be saying he should have fought Sosa AT LEAST instead! You can't win here! LOL

I'm holding him to the highest standard because I think he's one of the Top 10 best of all time in terms of H2H ability. The better the opponent he faces, the bigger case he'll have for cementing my belief in the eyes of boxing fans.
Sosa is a genuinely good fighter and I have mentioned that in this thread, he also has an aggressiveness and strength about him that could be a learning experience for Loma to get even better. Walters up until the Loma fight was seen as elite and Sosa had a very, very competitive fight with Walters although Walters won.

Fair enough. But it is unrealistic to expect elite opposition every single time with politics in boxing being as it is & $$$$ being the driving force nowadays. In an ideal world sure..

Sosa isn't elite but he's world class. I'd take it as a next best over Corrales.. Who may be just a flash in the pan fighter yet anyway! Patience.

I would say though, I hold to this...Loma's team are absolutely lowballing opponents whilst Loma can sit pretty on a $1m paycheck. Very unfair. So it's not just from the opponents end that there's greed. I am still shaking my head that they were not even willing to give Salido $200k at the start. They must've offered Corrales FAR less.
