You right. It seems that people want to play Leo cheap but he's not fitting the script. Loma will be hard pressed to beat Leo and I am not so sure that he can get it done. If Leo boxes long, Loma may find himself getting up off the canvass.
you dont need power to beat up a tired fighter. as a fight progresses, a difference in stamina turns into a difference in speed, power, durability, etc... thats one of the reasons fighters are told not to go looking for the ko, as the fighter tires, he becomes much more vulnerable to everything. salido is not going to beat leo from the outside, and fighting on the inside is what has gotten leo this far. 2 fighters who like close up fighting and one has an undented chin ,a bigger gas tank and a lot fewer miles.
havent watched that fight yet. if martinez pushes the kind of pace leo likes to set, then maybe your comment has some relevance.
126 and 130 has a lot of talent. If Loma was able to fight all of these guys he would rack up a great resume. Instead, he'll only be able to fight Gamalier Rodriguez type of opponents and only twice a year, because immature old men have to hold a childish grudge. It's only going to hurt us boxing fans.
Doubtful. Cruz's jab, while certainly "long," is also fairly predictable and not especially fast. Moreover,he's a bit of a plodder. Lomo gets inside of Leo's reach with speed and angles and outboxes this kid to a comfortable UD. The difference in handspeed, footspeed, and footwork will be striking.
Well I guess we can agree to disagree. I don't think that Leo is a plodder at all and he is definitely fast enough to touch Loma with the proper power. Also he throws more than just a jab. Last night he threw one twos and one two threes, finishing with the left hook, He also threw right hand leads and left hook leads, He has a serious uppercut and his body work is excellent. He takes a great shot and he has superb stamina. The fact that Loma is a lefty will be the only puzzle he has to figure out and that shouldn't take long.
I don't Cruz is a "can" by any means. Conversely I don't see any attribute ( other than perhaps his motor) that I would consider "elite." He has decent power, average hand/foot speed, and solid if not spectacular boxing skills. I just don't think that combination will be nearly enough to beat the best fighter in the division.
Leo Santa Cruz has a great chin and great punch output. But other than that I think he is pretty ****. I think lomachenko, Gary Russell Jr, Selby, frampton, quigg , rigo and Walters all beat him.
Good shout :good LSC gets no credit for any win, and his critics should take more notice, before they end up with egg on their face's. Make no bones about it, Leo isn't done yet.
Then you are missing Leo's greatest attribute which is his awkwardness. Watch how many times he lands punches from ridiculous angles, and how many times a split second after slipping shots, his own find the target.
LSC doesn't have a puncher's chance or at least one that is of any real significance, Loma seemingly has a good chin, defense and LSC doesn't have power.
