Judging by the footage provide he may well have done that if he'd stayed at Bantam and continued fighting in Asia. Looked a beast at the weight.

To anyone that has watched it yet: anyone think Choi got 4 rounds from the complete sessions we have?

Some close, hard-to-score rounds IMO.

 

Great upload ตัวหมัด(you having that?:yep), was a pretty enjoyable fight despite the fact that whatever broadcaster put it out into the ether screwed up in the penultimate rounds by going Stevie Wonder on us.

Considering that he had only had two fights to this point, that was a scary good performance from Choi. Really, really impressive, even though it had more to do with Veeraphol being so lackadaisical as much as anything else such laziness had to be taken advantage of. I couldn't comprehend why Sahaprom - in the immortal words of Manny Steward - wouldn't just ''let the **** go'', Choi was extremely preictable when he wasn't posing, I think he was trying to feint when in reality he kept leaning to the left, and SAHAPROM KEPT JABBING EXCLUSIVELY!:twisted:

Why Flea, Flea, why didn't he throw the right hand earlier? That whole side of Choi's body was wide open for much of the fight, and I doubt Choi was some kind of expert trapsmith at that(or any) stage in his career, so there wasn't any sort of obvious danger to him. He would've laid an utter beatdown on Choi throughout if he had've thrown something off the jab, instead he threw only solitary jabs, became predictable, and to be fair to Choi he times his attacks perfectly. When he knew a jab was coming he's vault over it and start a combination with a right hand, or he'd come from the side with a left hook, not bad for the novice that he was.

Ironically it was when he was actually hurt(that leg-raise was ace by the way) that Sahaprom finally woke up and started letting his hands go. I thought he began to dissuade Choi pretty quickly when he did, every time the Mongolian advanced he was getting pinged by a variety of shots, stark contrast to what the Thai was doing earlier, a simple but imperative change really. Throwing plenty against a guy whose defense is his face is always a sound gameplan to follow, he even forced Choi on the back foot towards the end of the video and had him reeling around the ring a bit. Choi was comfortable when he had the initiative to an extent, but couldn't deal with it when presented with any kind of sustained attack coming back at him.

As for Veeraphol, I guess he was still finding his confidence, as well as probably underestimating Choi. Judging by what we have of the last few rounds I imagine he took command by the end.

Indeed, perhaps you can use it on your travels there. No idea how to say it mind, throw a few K's in and it'll probably sound just fine.

Complacency on Sahaprom's part is probably the main component of Choi's success, I'd question why it took until he got hurt in the sixth before he decided to take over, as opposed to an earlier stage where Choi was noticeably both causing difficulties yet presenting huge openings, surely the perfect formula to get your head back in check I would think?

Enjoyable fight all the same, one of those you've come across on BoxRec or something and assumed that only those in attendance had witnessed it.

 

Probably assumed he could stick him with the jab and win a decision in his hometown, but upon realising he was really in a fight, stepped it up (IIRC the round where Choi buzzed him is also the round Sahaprom started smashing his face up)

I now have Sahaproms fight with fellow ace Thai Daorung Chuvatana, really looking forward to watching that soon.
