Marquez is allowed to pull out if he's not happy about the weight.

He'll fight and get compensated ......end of story

The fans got sold a catch weight fight; they won't get compensated.

And sure Marquez could pull out, but that's not the point though, it's more that Mayweather and his team have shifted the goal posts at the last minute and have handled everything in a very dishonest way.

But whatever, I just think to pull a move like this, against a guy you already hold almost every other advantage over, is pretty weak.

In the contract it was a welterweight fight, 147 pounds, with a stipulation that if either fighter weighed over 144 then they would have to pay a $$$$$$$ penalty for each pound. The promoters kept this secret as it would seem more of an unfair contest and result in less buys for the fight. Floyd has done nothing wrong as the contract allowed him to weigh in as high as 147 if he wanted. Floyd has just increased his already high chances of winning this fight and setting up the biggest fight in probably 10 years or so against the Cotto-Pacman winner. Floyd is smart.

I'm not happy about this fight when it was first signed months ago. I wasn't happy when De La Hoya made little Floyd Mayweather fight at 154 against him and outweighed him by about a stone in weight on fight night either. AGREED

Pretty much, although the fight was always contracted at the 147 limit with penalties for each pound above 144. It's just we were never told.

I've heard Marquez wanted 250k for every pound over and he got it.

Floyd won't be a stone above 144 come fight night. He never ever blows up in weight after the weigh-in. At most on fight night Floyd will be 150. Marquez will probably be 145 on fight night the same as he generally is even when he fights at 135.

I agree with you that this is not a fair fight even if Floyd weighed 144. Lets not forget that this is Floyd's first fight back after nearly 2 yrs and most fighters would have a soft tuneup in that position. Yes it is not an even fight BUT Floyd's first fight back against a smaller incredibly skilled P4P no.2 is a much much tougher fight than if Floyd chose a tuneup against someone like Steve Forbes etc. AGREED
