Monzon beat a bunch of smaller guys and Hagler would have struggled more in the late 80's -90's than he did in the 80's

I don't even like Canelo that much. It is what it is.

I get the no cw for a title argument and feel it is valid, but this is what happens when you write checks your unwilling to cash.

Who the guy who said anybody 154-68
Who's the fanbase that swears he's so small.
You want a big fight well here it is, are you gonna make excuses or fight?

I'm okay with this. 155 is even better though. :D

Are you not reading what people wrote 100 times already ? It is a MW title fight, so there should be no weight discussion. If Canelo drops the belt and then makes a good offer to Ggg for a non-title fight at 155, he will likely succeed.

Literally the first thing I said was I understand the no cw in a title fight argument and believe it's valid.

Saying that though acting like a cw for the MW Title is such a travesty when in recent memory Cotto, Martinez, and Hopkins all won the Real MW Title at a cw.

This is par the course for this division. 154-68 no excuses.

That's kind of a sensible post actually. But both GGG and Loeffler made it clear that they'd only go down to 154 for Floyd. He shouldn't have to drain himself to super welterweight to fight for the middleweight title. Especially if he's the mandatory challenger.

Abel has already said that they would come down to 154.1 to make Cotto, and go below 154 for Floyd.

No reason to pass up the payday and fight for the vacant title v Canelo when they were willing and able to do it for Flojo and Quitto.

It seems like K2 has been backtracking ever since they made that statement.
It is perfectly reasonable to say a title is on the line fight at the real weight. But when you make huge statements you leave yourself little wiggle room for excuses.

The fact is you do what you have to do to ultimately get where you want to be.

You want to unify take the fight Hopkins did it and Hoya had actually fought at MW before.

People say belts don't matter well forget the belt take the fight and prove all the hype and talk.

You do have a point but 155 is ridiciolus man. GGG wanted Ward @164 because he knew he'd most likely lose @168. Same thing with Canelo, he knows he can't win so he's trying to price himself out. The difference in two scenarios is GGG has no obligation to fight Ward, but Canelo will be mandated to fight GGG.

Canelo can back to 154lbs or fight at 160lbs. I hope Cotto KO's him.

I agree 155 is a bit much for the Cotto fight as well, if a cw has to happen 156 would be the lowest acceptable to me.

I think the weight has more to do with gamesmanship than being scared, but it's all opinion.

GGG should just call his bluff, unless he really can't make 155. He said he could make 154. And he would be favored. There's so much more to gain if he makes the sacrifice. Otherwise, he should patient and let them strip Canelo (if he wins) if it's all about the title. Even then, GGG still won't be lineal though, I don't think. Gotta beat the man to be the man.

Cotto and Canelo are both p1ssing me off. Cotto is p1ssing me off because he is saying he isn't a true middleweight but has no problem with holding the belt that he won from a dude who himself moved up from 147. If Cotto isn't a true middleweight then he should have dropped the belt after winning it to allow the true middleweights to fight for it. He wants it both ways. He proved in the Geale fight that he can still make 154 so go back down and fight there. It's not like that division is weak. There are some really good fighters down there who he could possibly beat and defend against.

Canelo is p1ssing me off because he is also saying he isn't a true middleweight but hasn't made 154 in 2 damn years! Someone needs to explain to him that there is no division in between 154 and 160 and the last thing we need is another damn division. He wants a new division called "Canelo weight".
