Very good post RC. You broke it down to what i see as a tee. It would be interesting if Foster was going at it with the left hand whilst Galindez had his back to the ropes. It was great how Galindez would drop his right to his side and then swing it slamming into his opponent's head.
Factoring in cuts isn't all that common when developing these scenarios, but when you're dealing with a Wepner type, yeah, it's a lot to overlook. Rossman was deviously candid in saying beforehand that his entire plan for dethroning Galindez was based upon going for the eyes. (The amused look on his Mike's face when he admitted that in his prefight interview was priceless. It was a cheap, sleazy way to go about winning a championship, and he knew it, but didn't care. Hey, I guess whatever it takes, any way you can get it!) Kates, like Yaqui Lopez, was a formidable contender, and I'll never forget the way he planted Matt Franklin (Saad Muhammad) flat on his face, one of the most devastating knockdowns I've ever seen sustained by a man who got up to stop his opponent. Getting to the top in that division after Foster relinquished the title took some doing. Even if Galindez got out of this one with his face intact, I just don't see how he could outscore Bob. His chin was too much of his defense. Victor defended his WBA Title eight times over the 15 round distance, and came just a second short of going the route a ninth time in the first war with Kates, so how likely is it that he could somehow stop Foster?
Lol, Duodenum..I saw that interview way back then and since then on that vid in YouTube where Rossman said that..I had to admire him for that..hell, the guy had a plan, and went out and DID IT, unlike the last handful of challengers, especially the vastly more talented Eddie Mustafa, who admitted later on in an interview that he "wasn't ready for Galindez" at that time. I was amused by that too. He had a plan and it worked!
Rossman can get underrated, but i think he just caught Vic at the right time. A few years earlier he would have been beaten up pretty badly.

Great thread hahaha. I like the consensus, a Foster decision or cuts stoppage. If anyone could legitmately stop Victor it's Foster, but he rugged. I also think not factoring in potential cuts stoppages with fighters prone to them is almost akin to overlooking a shaky chin at times. Whenever i think of a fighter like Napoles i worry about cuts, especially vs great punchers like Hearns. I don't think this is unfair.
