Gatti likes to trade stupidly as well as Ortiz.... difference is Gatti has a better chin and certainly more heart. Gatti by mid rounds KO.
Ortiz hurts Gatti early, but probably gets reckless and stupid, and Gatti pulls the legendary comeback. Seriously Ortiz has ZERO ring IQ, he would find a way to lose to Gatti.
I don't think so... Gatti was just too gungho to get into shootouts, and against guys like Maidana or a motivated prime Campbell he can't win those kind of fights. Or pretty much any kind of fight. As much as I hate to say it, Gatti was a gatekeeper, albeit a very exciting one. Maybe a bit more than that at 130 because of the freakish weight gains. It was no fluke when Manfredy and Robinson beat him at 135.
if we're talking about ortiz at 140 pounds, we're talking about the ortiz who was too young to be taking all that punishment, and gatti would've found a way to dish out serious punishment, maybe not knockout power, but something close to it. ortiz would wilt. it would be a back and forth war for as long as it lasted but there's no question who had more heart at 140 pounds, and period excluding victor's recent win. realistically, unless ortiz cut gatti and the doctor/ref stopped it, gatti's getting his hand raised.
Champ at 130 and 140. Good KO power, great chin, great stamina, tons of heart. Many of the best, most action packed fights ever to occur in boxing. Mediocre? :admin He had his faults but to call him anything less than a damn good fighter is inaccurate. Or your standard for good is impossibly high. Ortiz has explored the different dimensions of his game, but to think he would implement them would be foolish, as he never has before. He'd get into a shootout, where Gatti thrives and the fight would be competitive at least. Gatti may take him out late. Ortiz would be bigger, stronger, more versatile, but would he use his attributes? He is a woefully incompetent fighter at times.
