Hbo makes this fight because if pac beats ssm. then ssm fights ortiz and ortiz beats him. that sets up an apparent legit fight between ortiz vs pac/pbf. he has a story. whether you believe it or not... and that is 24/7 material. this is sellable. given that pac will probably fight jmm next after ssm (if he wins). you got ortiz pbf. possibly as a southpaw "tune-up". this makes mosley nothing more than a gatekeeper.
Of course, like everyone, I can answer more definitively after May 7th, but for now I'd favor Ortiz over him unless Mosley looks a lot more alive than he did against Mora.
Ortiz would spank his ass!! **** Mr. Balco... After pac beats him up.. Ortiz is going to beat that ass too! :fire
Rewatched the Berto fight last night and like some others have said, Ortiz is really open to the right hand, which is Mosley's money shot. Still not sure who wins this personally.
Providing Mosley is not as shot as everyone thinks he is, I'd take Mosley. He looked awful against Mayweather and Mora, because he was up against a style he's always hated. But against Ortiz, he'd have a field day landing that right at will.
I think it's gonna come down to how Ortiz handles the right, and if he can get Mosley's respect with his own punches. The opening rounds will be pretty crazy, because they're both fast starters with good power. What worries me with Ortiz is the fact that he has to get in Mosley's range to get his shots off, he's really not that good on the outside.
Mosley takes this. You cant judge it after the Pac fight cause nobody looks good fighting Pac. Mosely maybe old, but his skillset is still ahead of Victor or Berto. Then add that chin that would make him still effective against the young ones.
The real question for me is does Ortiz have enough power to get to Mosley. He seemed to hurt Berto plenty of times, but then again Berto isn't the most durable guy.
