Great video. Usyk is a very special fighter and could have a Maywether like run if he is matched sensibly. He is also a very funny guy so I hope he learns English so he can show that to the US fans.
It's possible, but Usyk needs to get a top level trainer for himself ASAP. And yes, improving his (rudimentary) English is also a very good idea.
I think his English is very feel already. About the trainer, I just hope he can find one that doesn't ruin his loma type style, which fits him like a glove.
He is the most skilled big man when you look at his footwork, foot speed, stamina, excellent range. I still haven’t seen anything from him that I didn’t know, I think outside of AJ and Wilder he is the 3rd of 4th best big man (200lbs+)
His style is very Lomo , actually they are great friends , His workrate is phenomenal , He has the potential to be an all time great, his Undisputedness is , excuse the play on UNDISPUTED , Gassiev was quality albeit somewhat one dimensional. It will be interesting if Usyk decides to trade his wares in the heavyweight market , Skillwise he will be a handful for anyone , one question remains does he have POWER ??
He's still unable to answer even the simplest questions during interviews, when Gassiev does it quite ok... By the way, a native English speaking trainer would help Usyk immensely with the language as well.
He needs to stick with a Russian trainer imo, and improve his English a bit...I don't think i'd 100% trust an American training him
I FEEL Usyk is so godly it is incumbent on American and other native English speaking fight fans across the globe to learn to speak Ukrainian and Russian, not for Usyk to learn to speak English.
https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/why-has-usyk-switched-trainers-so-much.600934/ In short, it's almost impossible. No amount of money will be enough for Anatoly to choose Usyk over his son.
Thank you for mentioning his positioning... some fans were saying Bellew would destroy the Gassiev that fought Usyk, the difference between Olek and Bellew is that one of them has impeccable positioning and footwork and the other one has good positioning and footwork, If the best Bellew fought the Gassiev (Usyk version), I believe it would be lights out for Tony as most of the punches that missed Usyk would have landed on Bellew.
Very skilled fighter, but I'd still like to see how he does at heavyweight, since the cruiserweight at best is a stepping stone division. I think he has the skill to give anyone at heavyweight a tough fight, but his chin and stamina are still untested.
