This is my favourite possible fight as far as I'm concerned, I rate these two as the two best boxers in the world; skills wise these two for me are the best of the best and we're lucky to see them both sharing the same ring. This tops Mayweather/Pac for me. I'm hoping Rigo pulls this off even though I like Lomanchenko a lot. I just hope Rigo doesn't get steamrolled due to the size differential; but with his speed, catlike reflexes and amazing footwork and longer arms he could very well make it a very difficult night for Loma - what an awesome fight!!! sweet science at it's best!

Personally I think it's going to be combos vs one punch at a time,

Combos rock the scissor shots (inside the distance!)

I don't see the high work rate from loma! Rigo is a terrific counter puncher with power! Loma's punch output drops in this one! Great, great match up. I can't pick the winner. Just want to see a good figbt!

There was a tad bit of bias in his post. He mentioned Rigondeaux didn't take the fight at 126, but failed to mention that even Lomachenko and his manager acknowledged that Rigs agreed to everything, but was sent a lowball offer of 400K by Arum.

Fair post. I enjoy the skills of both guys as well. People will notice the size difference at the face offs. Lomachenko was Walters' height at their face offs and in the ring. Walters is listed at 5'7, and was a tad taller than Donaire. I know a few short people who have said Rigondeaux couldn't be taller than 5'2 1/2 to 5'3 when they met him in person. I'd of liked to see Rigondeaux be matched with a 130 pounder other than Lomachenko first. Have them fight on the same card, to build it a little more, and let Rigondeaux show off his new physique at 130, by beating the **** out of Salido, Sosa or Walters, while Loma could fight Corrales or Berchelt or something. Looking forward to a good fight. People writing Rigondeaux off due to the size deficit, forget that guys who start their careers with fairly good defense, don't always have the most tough facial structure. The way Loma was lumping up from half a fight where Marriaga barely landed anything doesn't bode well for Lomachenko, if he can't get Rigs out of there early, Rigs is going to have him looking like the elephant man.

Rummy, excellent work man. Well thought out, well put together.

This fight sold out The Theater at MSG two months in advance. Purists of the sport KNOW this is big and i think it'll be remembered for many years to come. I honestly never saw this fight happening after 2015 came and went!

Size doesnt matter even one iota in this fight. Loma is taller and (maybe) 10lbs heavier....Rigo has slightly quicker hands and a longer reach. Mythical matchup is actually happening!

I don't think our outlooks are that far off. A knockout wouldn't shock me, but it would surprise me a little, in part because of what you mentioned. If Lomachanko unlocks the riddle, Rigo will probably KNOW if he has unlocked it. And in that instance, we're probably getting something that resembles what we saw in Hopkins-Kovalev. Rigo will know how to bide his time, and I don't imagine he would be an easy guy to stop if he's determined not to be stopped. If Lomachenko "solves the riddle", then Rigo will likely know it, and I think chances are he could fight NOT to win, bide his time, and hope for a big opening that never materializes. But the flip side to this, is that Lomachenko doesn't "solve the riddle". Or if he does, then he advances to another stage of the riddle, because Rigo and he are both excellent at making subtle tactical adjustments. I actually think THIS is when Rigo would be more vulnerable over the long haul - in a fight where Lomachenko never quite solves the riddle, or finds the most effective ways to utilize his advantages in size and youth.

I find it slightly amusing that people are acting like Rigondeaux won't have openings. Lesser skilled guys have hit Lomachenko repeatedly during fights, and now all of a sudden Rigondeaux won't be able to touch him?

You've been corrected on this in the past by several posters, including myself, but still you repeat this nonsense.

The weight was agreed at 126 and the offer from Top Rank was $500k to each fighter with an additional $500k to the winner. It would have been a career high payday for Rigo, and Rigo turned it down.

You need to get over your obsession with lumps and bumps. This is about the 4th time you have raved on about this. It's only skin and flesh. Cuts and lumps are over rated. They heal. Fights are not decided on facial damage. You should be more concerned about what will be happening inside Rigo's skull rather than outside of Lomas.

Lomachenko is going knock out Rigondeaux.

Rigondeaux's greatest asset is his southpaw stance. It allows him to maintain his distance against orthodox fighters. He's only fought 2 southpaws in his career...Cordoba and D*ckens. Cordoba gave him hell and D*ckens was not very good to begin with. He will square up more against Lomachenko, making harder to defend against incoming punches.

Lomachenko fought a very good southpaw in Russel Jr and outboxed him. Lomachenko is just better at fighting southpaws than Rigondeaux. He also have better defense given how much he engages his opponents. He rarely gets hit in the pocket.

Rigondeaux's chin is fragile. Every time he got hit cleanly by a good punch, he buckles or goes down. For a fighter with such good defense, he sure gets hurt a lot. When Cordoba hurt Rigondeaux, the whole complexion of the fight changed. He immediately backed up and reduced his activity for a number of rounds. When Rigondeaux gets hurt against Lomachenko, it's going to be all downhill for him from there.

Lomachenko already know Rigondeaux's weakness. He likes to keep right hand low. That's how he got hurt so many times. It's going to be a left hook that will start the beginning of the end for Rigondeaux.

Rigo's also nearing the end of his $10 million Roc Nation deal- he'll only need like 3 more fights before the end of 2019 to completely honor it.

If you pro-rate that into it, Rigo is, in all likelihood, making more for this fight than Loma is (and would've under the 126 offer, as well).

Champion level fighters have no incentive to sign with new promoters unless the new guys are extra generous in paying them to compensate for the extra risk involved. That's how Roc built their stable, and Rigo cashed in nicely on that. That's why I don't think it captures the whole story to ignore that deal when people look at Top Rank "lowballing" him for this particular fight.

Show me the contract, if not then keep your foolishness to yourself. Lomachenko and manager stated the number themselves on the record. I'm using their inside info, which they divulged, not your fanboy rumor.

Not sure what is so hard to understand about lumps affecting vision, and broken bones affecting ability to continue on in fights. Cuts can bleed into the eyes as well. And why should I be worried about that? Rigondeaux has been punched by harder punchers than Lomachenko.
