Being that Robert Garcia is the trainer of of an annoying unprofessional loudmouth that didn't make weight in two fights. He will not be critical of another fighter that conducts himself in a similar fashion. :good

Yeah Erik needs to retire. He never pulled that when in his prime, but he's become a fat unprofessional slob.

Broner could have made the weight....Broner just chose to coast through the rigors of cutting weight for whatever reason.....Regardless of his out of the ring diet during camp, it was his job as a professional to do everything within his powers to make good on his word and honor his contract.

What was disappointing is the fact that Broner went out of his way to highlight his "special diet" leading up to the weigh in which only proved he didn't take honoring his contract at 130 seriously...where his opponent did.

Any way you look at the situation it looks highly unprofessional and reflects poorly on Broner. With all that said his in the ring performance was terrific....of course he was holding advantages over his already smaller foe that only increased due to not having to sacrifice in shedding the necessary weight to have a fight at 130 lbs.

Broner's win is tainted...his performance loses its luster and his pockets, lighter.....Broner needs to take himself and career more seriously or suffer the consequences that will surely catch up with him if he doesn't come to this realization.

A month ago he said making the weight was easy. He claimed he could do it & be ready to fight at 24hrs notice.

Not bloated but if you look at his face for this fight....it's definitely fuller than in his last fight. The guy is obviously in shape.....but being in shape doesn't mean you automatically make weight....in order to campaign as a Light Weight you have to have the ability and respect to fulfill your commitment to weigh in within the limit. Broner defaulted on his contract and was lucky Esco decided to fight......even though he was paid nicely for taking the risk. I don't condone anything Broner did leading up to this fight...to me it was bad for him, the sport and for the commission.

Did he try to sweat it out after the weigh in or did they just agree to go through with the fight ? There's plenty of emamples of fighters getting the sweat suit on in the steam room to shift a couple of pounds. 3 could be tough to be fair

He didn't even try.....He wouldn't have made the weight regardless but the truth of the matter is, it would have looked better had Broner at least attempt to make the weight. His actions and attitude were unprofessional and disrespectful.

As a young fighter you should be humble, walking a tight rope and picking up GOOD habits......not bad ones. If this is the writting on the walls for Broner then his future won't be as bright as his idols (FMJ). And Floyd actually broke through after YEARS of being on the outside of stardom in this sport.....if not for his attention to detail and his dedication, preperation and professionalism when it came to coming in shape.....

Floyd wouldn't have made it to this level. Broner won't come close to Floyd's accomplishments if he continues on this path....even with all his talents and ability.

Garcia also supports Rios who is a disrespectful loudmouth kid who should do his talking in the ring ONLY and can't make weight.

But at least Rios schtick is real and comes off natural.....This whole Broner persona rubs folks the wrong way because it's clear as day he's trying.....and trying way too hard to be another Floyd Jr. They say any press is good press but I can recall a few situations where that saying doesn't hold true.

Sometimes the negative press is what resonates with the masses and gaining a bad rep in the sport is something that is not easily shed. Your name and reputation is by far the most important thing in any mans life outside of family and God.

Broner is better than what he's been showing (at least I hope) but the knuckle head has goons for advisers who probably are telling him that his actions are "cool" or he doesn't have to worry about fulfilling legal, binding contracts .:patsch

u dont know that anymore than i do.

and really his resume @ SFW, a weak divison, nobody really cares that his win is "tainted". its not like escobedo is a top of the line guy.

lightweight is where its at. great fights to come.

Look....I know that Broner did NOT do what was necessary to give him the best chance at making weight as he has done a dozen and a half times before the fight with Esco.

I agree the win itself wouldn't make or break his career......it's the situation surrounding this particular fight that will stick with him......for how long? That's up to Broner....if he continues to act unprofessionally in future fights it will only hinder his promising career.

I agree that at Light Weight he'll have bigger fights to help build his growing resume. I look forward to it.....but I have doubts on just how far the kid will go based on some of the things he's shown us OUTSIDE the ring....which can begin to affect his IN THE RING performance.

The same guys on here who say the extra 3lbs does not make much of a difference are the same people who claim the extra 1lb Cotto had to lose against Pacquiao made all the difference.

Just because he looks good physically does not give him an excuse to weigh in over the limit not only for the actual weigh in, but also for the stipulated rehydration clause as punishment for him weighing in OVER.

I support professionalism, that was not professional. We could just take it for what it was, a kid weighing in over the limit and hopefully having it as a learning experience, but what I do not understand is people supporting the fact that he weighed in over the limit.
