That's nice isn't it? That Dennis Hobson is willing to potentially lose a lot of cash to fulfill his fighter's dream.

What a romantic viewpoint of reality you have.

No no no....Icemax spoke to his trainer. It was very enlightening. He confirmed that out of the goodness of his heart, after being so alarmed by Jamies reaction to going to Mexico, Hobson put his hand in his own pocket to fulfill Jamies dream. Hobson is not like every other promoter.

  3. That's garbage, He was the British, Commonwealth & European champion with multiple defenses of those titles if that doesn't qualify for a shot at a world title then i don't know what is.

Much worse fighters have gotten shots, Lee Purdy is taking on D Alexander next week how the **** is he more deserving of a shot ?

So Hobson told JM that he was going to have the fight at the Keepmoat whether he liked it or not? You have a very twisted view of what the employer employee relationship actually is

Hobson is exactly like any other promoter, who said he wasn't? You try very hard "Rob" and I appreciate that, but you should really throw the towel in, resistance is futile.....which one are you? 2 of 7?

I'm not sure that applies in this particular, and rather peculiar, case.

He won't make anything tonight, considering what he's up against. Well...I'd rather believe that then think he's completely inept. The latter may be true.

Anyway, this is one of the most flimsy and illegitimate World title fights ever staged. It means nothing, it's just another decent (at best) fight for McDonnell. I know he's chuffed and seeing it as such, but he's wrong, the belt he'll wear home if he wins is worth nothing more than the one he wore to keep his trousers up on the way to the arena.

    Why?

Other than the McDonnell fight its a terrible card, 6000 is quite decent i think.

Am I on my own in thinking Ceja looks like absolute shite.

I think Jamie is gonna do this without too much problem.

Granted I've only watched two Ceja fights but he looks like a fit club fighter.

His feet are terrible and in his last fight it looked like a dive to me.

Ah I see. So Dodson and Smith asked to fight in London did they?

I don't think you understand business. Employees can have opinions and preferences but its the business owners which make the decisions based on what makes business sense.

    Hobson isn't his dad ffs!

Hi - you can sky+ Primetime following the sky platform recording rules. You must be previously registered with Primetime, have a phoneline connected to your sky box and order through the box office menu. If you are new to Primetime or need to order by phone you cannot record it.

However the McDonnell fight is on early and will be finished before the Burns fight. The McDonnell show starts at 7pm with the main event happening around 8:30pm. The McDonnell show will be off air at 10pm so you can switch over for the burns fight:good

Im sure that Dodson and Smith didn't ask to fight in London, but frankly they don't have many options and would be happy to fight anywhere. If they weren't happy then they wouldn't fight, and there's not a great deal that anyone could do about it. A fighter/promoter relationship is not slave/master. In the case of McDonnell and Hobson its a good job for everyone concerned that both of their aspirations are aligned....McDonnell gets to fight where he wants and Hobson supposedly maximises his take (McDonnells purse would have been bigger if he had fought in Mexico, and Hobson would have made more money Im sure having the fight somewhere else)

I don't think you understand business? Are you sure? Given that Hobson is both McDonnells manager and promoter, do you know what “fiduciary duty” means?

im quite sure hobson is going to do his absolute brains on this particular fight but its a one off, making history as the title goes, so what, he's a wealthy self made man taking a punt on something he may be remembered by. i'm sure he would like to make money on this fight buts its not going to happen, they'll be other fights and they are worse ways to blow a few quid.
