Actually yes Hobson is going to lose on this. Anybody who thinks Hobson went to Primtetime, where he is picking up the production costs, because of money are plain wrong. There's a difference between a promoter who already has a broadcaster in his back pocket choosing to go to ppv on top of that, and then a promoter like Hobson who is doing it on a channel like Primtime as a last resort. Hobson had already booked the Keepmoat and logistically couldn't alter the venue from May 11th so yes Icemax is right. Hobson could've scrapped this show but was willing to go ahead with it even though he'll expect to take a hit on this one individual event.
Icemax's point was that Hobson did this from the kindness of hos heart to fulfill McDonnells dream. Mine & MrBrockets point is that he did it because of his ego, that he thiugt he would get a better TV deal, and he didn't want to share any profits with Hearn. But I don't know why we are still disussing this. Icemax won the arguement already because he told us he did.
I'm not missing the point. Once Hobson realised he couldn't move it from May 11th he could've scrapped it because of the scheduling clash. He knew the tv score and went ahead anyway, so yes there is an element of rewarding his fghter but of course Hobson will also look to having a world champ and some future benefits of that too.
Yep there's an element of that. He's primarily a businessman of course, but he didn't have to take this risk which was never a sure-fire seller by any means.
The risk IS now a business risk. He's weighed up his risk reward ratio and gone with it. There are some criminally naive people in here.
Given the various circumstances around this fight, it's fair to say it can be regarded more as a bit of self indulgence on Hobson's part as a local Yorkshire lad in terms of him making any money on it. With the inflexibility of the venue over dates and the difficult commercial environment for a lot of promoters at the moment anyway, he just thought feck it and ploughed ahead.
I din;t say that you twisting Borg ****, what I said was that basically Hobson produced what McDonnell wanted, which is precisely what a fighters manager is supposed to do
Jamie should aim for a fight with Rigo or Donaire Fancy him to beat those and then move up to 147 and clear that division up.
