I had a friendly fiver bet on with my mate that Appleby would be beat, a bet I would happy to lose but when the decision was announced, no one around me thought Appleby had won the fight.

The point deduction made it closer than it should have been but Ormond still took it. I was impressed with him, he doesn't deserve a loss o. His record at this stage

 

You must have been just to the right of me, we were in block k. There see.ed to be an older more respectable crowd there than what was at the evenson fight, they were good for the most part ... Crowd was fire during the main event.

Despite the dodgy decision, I loved the Appleby fight.

 

Some excellent reviews of last nights action in this thread.

Going through alot of the forums i cant understand why so many favor Mitchell over Burns??..i think Burns throws too many shots for Mitchell to handle.

Glad you enjoyed it Dunky. I had planned to go but something came up and I haven't sent foot in Braehead since I was ringside for the Scott Harrison and William Abelyan fight (and that wasn't yesterday) so the booze machines would be new to me too. If FW gets his wish and takes Ricky on the road then it might be a while before I'm back.

 

I think it's a Scottish thing Dunky. I was at the Burns fight in London behind a crowd of Scots. All blind drunk on blue Wickid

My Review of the Night

I had a great night, the undercard was pretty good was impressed by Simmons, hopefully he can be progressed in his next couple of fights and he should be challenging for the british title by the end of the year. Slowley was good puts his shots together pretty well and is another good scottish prospect. Was a bit disappointed by Thain, he wasnt as good as ive seen in the past but he won and got another fight under his belt.

My fight of the Night was the Appleby fight. It wasnt as good as the walsh fight but was a good scrappy battle and i think paul done just enough to win it. I think he would have won it by more if he stood off and boxed a bit more, it seemed like he was desperate for the knockout and got hit by a lot more shots than he needed to. Hopefully he can get a rematch with Walsh in his next fight.

As for the Burns fight, it was good but slightly uneventful. I felt ricky was in control for the whole fight and there wasnt many moments when he was ever in trouble. Thats not really a critisism, Ricky was just a level above Moses. The Crowd was electric for it although the songs towards the end of the fight wernt exactly to my taste.
