Vitali - Haye sensible thread

I think people underestimate Vitali's decline at this point. He's so much slower, stiffer, less dynamic, even his power is not what it used to be. Actually, who knows about the chin as well..

By the time they would fight, he will be 42. Haye is in his very prime and matches better vs him than vs Wlad. I suspect he can hurt this 42yo version of Vitali with one of his trademark hayemakers.

I'd still give Vitali a slight edge.. I guess.. but it's more like 50:50 fight at this point in my view.

 

Vitali will prepare well for his last fight, his shape will be better than against Arreola or Adamek. You will see!

 

Haye is easily the best fighter Vitalis faced since LL, I think Haye retires him around the 8th or 9th

Only if Haye had to fight Chisora one armed and still would have won, you could compare the two performances.
And then there's the style difference of course.

 

The Wlad fight was a tense and nervous affair, and despite Wlad landing 'clean' he wasn't putting full power into his shots, and Haye was moving away when they landed.

Vitali would let his hands go more and land much more often, would not be scared to take a shot from Haye and would beat Haye up en route to a stoppage or landslide points win.

 

I still dont see why anyone thinks Haye is gonna win

Unlike Wlad, Vitali will step in and fire when Haye has one of his amateurish wild swinging telegraphed misses

Wlad was content to back out and not make Haye pay for his terrible misses from out of range

i think Vitali will go forward and throw when haye does this and Vitali will beat him to the punch

I actually think Vitali has a better shot at getting the stoppage

Charr and Chisora were big sturdy heavyweights who came directly at the old man and forced him to fight and forced him to back up

Haye just does not do that, he will not fight him that way, he will be on the outside looking to pull his four corners offense vs Vitali and try to win taking the least risk possible

I mean look at how he "beat" Valuev and how he lost to Wlad, does anyone really see how he could even test Vitali

i mean unless Vitali is too slow to catch him and he runs laps around the ring like the Indy 500 like he did vs Valuev i dont see what Haye does that Vitali couldnt handle

i hated the fight as a klitschko fan because Chisora talked all this **** and Vitali didnt KO him, I always was disappointed

but i watched the highlights recently and am more appreciative of his win

idiots on here try to act like Vitali never was a puncher or just arm punches and has no pop, well look at some of these shots and tell me how you think Haye would react to some of the rights Chisora eats, they dont look like petty arm punches to me

also look at the reflexes i think between the 11 and 12 min mark of the vid Vitali is off guard and facing away from Chisora at the end of a round and completely dodges a huge left hand

 

Nah.. His hayemakers are from it, that's the point. He times them very well, often in a sneaky way. I think the Byrd comparison that jisi made is more relevant than the Charr or Chisora that you've made. Pressure fighters don't seem to bother Vitali. He's made absolute asses of Peter and Arreola. Technically skilled, cautious, defensively-minded, slick counterpunchers like Byrd, that's another story.

I'll happily eat my words though.

 

Vitali all day long in this one, and I'm no fan of the Klitschko brothers. Haye showed what his heart was made of against Wladimir. I see KO written all over this fight with Vitali stopping Haye somewhere between 8-10 rounds.

 

People like to use the Wlad fight to criticise Haye and downgrade his chances here, but I saw a lot of things in that fight that would cause Vitali problems, namely excellent head movement, and razor sharp timing. Haye's cautiousness, or rather his hesitancy in coming forward, was primarily due to Wlad's dominant command of range. Likewise Haye's performance against Valuev. It was only his second real fight at heavyweight and a title fight to boot. He had no idea how he'd handle a man of Valuev's size and physical strength and the WBA title was on the line so I can understand why he was cautious.

All that might sound like apologist nonsense, and it might well turn out to be, but Ive seen enough of Haye against fighters whom he thinks he can beat to show me that he fights rather differently. Against Ruiz and Chisora he was much more willing to open up, with devastating results. Against Barrett it was more or less non-stop punching. If he thinks a fighter is slower and less athletic than he is he seems to lay it on the line a lot more. Against Vitali he might well resort to the Valuev/Wlad method of low output pot-shotting, but something tells me that he feels he can nick this one, and will fight with a bit less caution. He really doesn't have much to lose.

Vitali doesn't have anywhere near the same sort of ability to keep Haye on the outside as Wlad, and leaves himself a lot more open throughout the course of a fight. He also leaves himself in the pocket a lot longer and is less prone to clinch. You can point to Vit's chin here but, call me cautious, relying on a chin against a puncher of Haye's calibre seems a bit risky to me.

Of course, Vit's increased aggression and more varied output might make it more difficult for Haye to avoid shots, even though said shots are individually slower, and if Haye doesn't offset Vit's rhythm early then he'll be in trouble. But the speed difference really is very marked here, and Haye will know that his stamina will start to become an issue from about the mid rounds on and I expect he and Booth to develop a sound gameplan around that.

 

Vitali should wear kickboxer pants and shoes in the ring when he fights Haye and end the fight with a tornado kick.
Boxing needs publicity and if this would happen it would be on every headline.
Not intending to hurt Haye, but it would be even better/funnier than the Holmes karate drop kick.

But Vitali is a nice guy, doubt he would do it.

 

Vitali's punch output is still far superior to Vlads,. and David Haye will not want to get hit that often by a guy that size.

Even if he has declined Vitali is certainly no plodding Valuev.

Byrd? You have to go back 13 years to support your hated??? Sad, even for you. Everyone knows Vitali tore his shoulder early in the fight, and still was spanking Byrd.

 

Why hate? Where is the hate?

I see a good chance that David Haye will win the fight, nothing else.
