Gomez is very fast, yet Vitali beat him to to punch. Hide was faster, yet Vitali beat him to the punch. Donald was fast, weighed in at only 225, at 6 feet 4 inches tall, yet Vitali beat him to the punch. I have all his fights on tape, he is fast, no dout about it. Ask all his victims. Byrd will tell you about both. Tony Tubbs used to spar with Klitschkos was an adviser. They all say Vitali and Vlad are slow, but after they get into the ring, they find out wrong. Listen to Austin's corner, yeah, he's slow, you outboxed him, etc., Vlad knocked him out in the second round using only his left hand. Vitali's opponents have all said the same, until after the fight. They are surprised by such propaganda. Inside the ring things look different to them.
I don't know what Klitschko-tinted glasses you were watching today's fight in, but Gomez most definitely was NOT fast. He was slow and sluggish. Gomez circa 2002-2003... Now he was FAST.
Thought it was just me..... The Gomez that fought Sam was lightning fast and had some snap in his punches. I didn't see it against the likes of McCall etc.
Gomez was just as slick as Byrd and had more punching power. And apparently Vitali was too scared to fight Byrd for 3 more rounds with a shoulder injury. Vitali must've been fearful of Byrd's heralded punching power. :yep
 Just like the Holyfield that fought Bowe would have beaten Lewis. that reasoning makes no goddamn sense. By that logic, you could say any fighter A would not have lost to fighter B if they had fought at such and such time. Claiming retroactively that Fighter A would have beaten fighter B and that therefore Fighter B shouldnt get credit is ridiculous.
I give credit to Klitschko for beating a fat, slow, and clearly unmotivated Gomez. All I'm saying is that the Gomez circa 2002-2003 would've boxed circles around the 2009 Vitali. Between a 2002-2003 Gomez vs. a 2002-2003 Vitali, it would've been close, too.
Gomez, fighting for the WBC heavyweight title was unmotivated?!?! Bull****! If anyone wasn't motivated it would be Vitali, who either wants to fight Valuev or Haye. I can't believe how many people hate the Klitschkos!! It really is a shame they're not ghetto thugs, it would make them so much more media friendly and then the masses would love them too.
I take it you have a problem doing research....in the injury happened in the second round.....not in the round where he quit. But hate makes fine blinkers. And in that Gomez was 36 to Vitili's 37....the reflex difference should not have been great. Gomez was not as fast as he once was....and/or Vitali was as it has been pointed out always been a tad faster than he looks... The Sam fight was not so long ago...either. And it helps that most of the time...that he does land his punch, and don't miss....if he was slow...he'd be missing a lot....but he don't. But you don't want to hear that...you made up your mind when you was a kid, when you made up your mind to be a Jingoistical fool...and nothing can change your mind....but I'm not trying to do the impossible. There just might be some youngster who could use a couple of pointers on how to tell speed.......one is the guy hits and don't miss much, and don't get hit much either.....odd for such a clumbsy slow robot....Vitialy hits, and seldom misses, and seldom gets hit himself.
His heavy breathing and his wide open mouth don't say anything. He always looks like that. It's definitely not a shape issue. I also have to agree that Vitali is very fast - even though not as lightning fast as he was some years ago.
I don't think his stamina is brilliant, or it's certainly not as good as some people make out. He's alright as long as he is setting the pace but if pressure is put on him he can tire. I also think to say that heavy breathing and his mouth gaping open not saying much is a bit far fetched. It means he was tiring - simple. He looked slow at times last night and I don't think it was anything to do with Gomez.
If anything, this fight is where Klitschko actually showed his ring rust a tad............ Gomez is a cutie with an ugly southpaw style, yet he owns quickness..... Gomez' style and quickness is what made Klitschko look slower than before............. Christ sake, Gomez is much slicker and quicker than that of Sammy "The Slob" Peter...... Styles make fights.... Klitschko is indeed robotic to a large degree, but he knows how to use his size and power very well........... Klitschko looks to be healthy and in fine shape at 250 + or - pounds......... Peace.....
