So you think its fair holding a paper title hostage, retiring, and than being able to fight again for that paper title without working back to it when other contenders have put in time and work to get their rightful chance at said paper title?

When articulated that way, it certainly warrants consideration. However you have been on a crusade to defame Vitaly for years. I swear; The guy could rescue a family from a burning house and you would make it seem like he unloaded a truck-load of puppies with a pitchfork.

I on the other nad only question who Vitaly has aligned himself with politically.

It has nothing to do with Vits, but with a ridiculous organization showing favoritism. I dont see Vits as the heavyweight champion, but i hardly blame him for the WBC's stupid rules and decisions. If you're going to hold yourself up as a championship organization you should have a standard of conduct thats fair to all, not just who brings you the biggest sanctioning fees. We've see favoritism time and again from all the ABC orgs while other hard working fighters get screwed. Its time for it to end.

So you support favoritism as long as its a fighter you like. If it were Andre Ward you'd be having a fit, double standards boy!

This is a very logical and pratical answer. What do people expect if Klychko returns after the elections in 2015? He will be 44 and expected to get back in line for contendership. Maybe then after 5 or so fights and another 3 years Vitaly would be given the honour of fighting for a title he held for years and never lost in a ring, :patsch

You would think JABS would finally be content because Vitaly is more than likely done fighting yet JABS still has to take the opportunity to grandstand under the guise of fair play.:-(

Its neither practical or logical. Hes choosing to retire, he doesnt have to. By doing so ANY fighter should have to get back in line. See the great Joe Louis as an example.

That honor is only afforded to great champions like Vitali.

It shouldnt be afforded to anyone. Any kind of favoritisn should be left out pf competitive sports.

Great champions transcend the rules. WBC is simply acknowledging the fact that Vitali is still the champ but he is busy with other important tasks at the moment.

No, deep pockets transcend rules. If Vits was a money maker for the EBC tbis bogus emeritus crap wouldnt even be considered.

The goal for a sanctioning body should be to have the best boxer to hold its belt. Vitali was obviously one of the best as he held on to the belt for nine defenses after beating the hell out of Sam Peter. So in this case it was a good idea for a former WBC champ to fight for the belt immediately instead of waiting years to earn the right to fight for it (years he had already put in by winning the belt more than four years ago).

Anyway, this is WBC policy which I actually have no problem with. If Lennox Lewis came back he'd also be able to fight immediately for the belt as well.
