Well he spoke of fighting a rematch and even spoke of fighting Wlad which I had to scratch my head because Wlad had just had his Glass Jaw shattered by Sanders.

Lennox sat on his belt until after Vitali steamrolled Johnson because had Vitali lost Lewis would have simply said "see, the guy is a fluke I don't need to fight him". When Klitschko beat Johnson Lewis retired a few weeks later.

I also have to wonder why Lewis keeps giving "advice" to Vitali's opponents. His advice to Danny Williams was to try and cut that eye and win by a cuts stoppage :rofl.

Regardless Lennox was a great Champion a top 10 ATG and I have no problem that he retired but clearly there was a reason for that retirement.

 

He refused the rematch that boxing fans wanted because he would not risk getting lucky again and winning on a cut. Its quite plain! And he continues to hate on Klit for retiring him:-( Yes of course he wanted to retire :smoke

 

Yeah, it's not like LL waited for VITKLIT to get injured and then came back...he left, and stayed gone.

If like Rico suggested he would fight some garbage man, that wouldn't prove VITKLIT didn't retire him...if anything it makes a case that he did.

 

If Lennox came back tomorrow and fought Tye Fields there could be NO argument that Klitschko retired him. NONE. You can't retire someone that is not retired.

I think even at this stage if Lennox trained for 3 months and got the fat off there are a couple of the beltholders he would beat right now including Peter. Lennox Lewis is a top 10 Heavyweight ATG.

You simply cannot mess up someones face as badly as Lewis did to VITLAY by being 'lucky', it's impossible. The only lucky one in that fight was VITLAY because if Lewis had been anything like prime he'd have most likely finished the guy for good.

 

When a fighter retires it's not because he can't beat a challenger he has already dispatched.

Here's some logic you can understand, since you are always on about Toney having no power at HW...because you think it's "proven (which it is not, contrarily he has proven his power, but I digress)..."

What's also proven is Lewis is 100% in rematches...

What's also proven is that Lewis comes in for rematches motivated and in shape...and makes quick work of his opponents.

 

As I remember it Lewis was actually hanging around waiting for a Tyson rematch, the fight with VITLAY was supposed to have Tyson on the undercard to promote it. Tyson didn't for one reason or another make the undercard, Lewis hung around waiting for a while to see if Tyson could get it together....Tyson couldn't so Lewis left the sport. Admittedly a Tyson rematch would have been nothing more than a money making exercise but that's not the argument here. VITLAY wasn't even on Lewis's radar after he'd beaten him up, and why the hell should be be?

Here is some other logic for you. James Toney has an 11% KO rate at Heavyweight a 22% positive steroid test at Heavyweight and Lennox didn't fight Vitali again he retired. James Toney could not bust a grape at Heavyweight and so far he has not. No wonder they are looking at fighting Glass Jaw Audley Harrison. :roflatsch

 

Vit certainly made Lewis look out of shape and unmotivated! Lewis knew he got lucky and all we see now is his mouth trying to get someone else to stop Klit 'fair n' square', something George Foreman was quoted as saying Lewis did not do.

 

Another thing that has been proven over the years, Vitali shits the bed when it comes time to fight B class opposition and up, he quit against Bryd and then got his face caved in by Lewis, to the point where he could star in "Man without a face 2".

Vitali has a weak ass resume, when your best wins are over Journeymen Corrie Sanders and a harpooned whale by the name of Kirk Johnson, theres really not much to talk about, not to mention ducking Haseem Rahman for the whole year of 05. Mark my words, Vitali will meet his maker come October 11.

 

I suspect the truth of this is that Lewis knew a Tyson rematch would generate a fortune whereas a Klitschko rematch wouldn't. Bottom line is he wanted a last big easy payday and when it obviously wasn't going to happen he retired.

As you say, a fighter that loses to the champion can NEVER lay claim to retiring the guy, that's ****ing idiotic.

They aren't looking for Audley, if they've got the money James has the time to beat his ass...and I only mentioned James to remind you of your seeming reliance :roll: on facts, even if they are 100% selective with you,, and completely trivial.
