Vitali was a factor, no doubt.

Lewis probably discovered he wasn't getting any younger, saw his accomplishments and called it a career. Vitali made him discover that.

But to say "Vitali retired Lewis" is exaggerated. He was a factor, among others, and that's it.

I think some guys should accept that Lennox actually defeated Vitali. It was because of a cut. That's not as good as a KO or a real TKO, where the referee jumps to separate the fighters, but it's still a legit win in the books. Obviously, you can discuss that it's not the best manner of winning (like a DQ or an injury win). It does not prove who is the better fighter. But fact is that Lewis TKO6 Klitschko.

Other guys should realize that Lennox didn't retire just because his time as a boxer suddenly and randomly ended. No. There was an important matter in public opinion: the rematch between Lennox and Vitali. People wanted to see a rematch because there wasn't a clear win in the first fight. And Lennox retired: He declined the rematch that public opinion wanted to see, the rematch against Vitali. This means that he didn't want to fight Vitali again. So, hey, he preferred to retire (keeping his TKO6 from that fight) instead of risking anymore.

All of this obviously makes us think that Vitali Klitschko was a factor of Lewis' retirement. However, that doesn't change the fact that Lewis TKO6.

Is it so difficult to understand?

One of the very few balanced posts. Lewis won it's good for his resume, unfortunately everybody will be talking about it forever because of the set of circumstances. Shame about the timing of their careers, if only Lewis was a little younger we would have seen a rematch & this debate wouldn't keep happening.

Only Klitschko fans keep bringing it up, and the wider public couldn't give a ****. Every one of these threads is started by dumbass Klit fans, and in every single thread it's the same dumbass Klit fans with their same dumbass reasoning. Most of them are nothing more than fanboys and post about nothing except the Klitschko's. At least *******s and *****s contribute to other topics.

Lewis was staggered by Vitali and had a badly broken nose, really bad. He was ready to get knocked out in the very next round, thus, he refused to fight Vitali ever again, not even for his largest payday of his career by far!

Lewis had a 18 million dollar offer for the re-match. He balked! Lewis failed to offer the re-match. All he did was run his mouth to the press and the fans saying there would be one. Yes--Vitali Retired Lewis.

Lewis destroyed Vitali, face it. TKO 6, cut his eye to absolute **** from punching him in the eye repeatedly. Looked like he took a cheese grater to his eye. Lewis is by far the better fighter and an out of shape Lewis at his absolute worst destroyed a young prime, hungrier than ever Vitali. There's no way you can spin this, Lewis was an old out of shape fighter when he whupped the big robot.

Lewis beat every man he ever faced. cutting someone and repeatedly targeting the cut is a legit tactic that's just as legit as a KO or a ref stoppage and once Lewis opened that bad boy he continued to pepper it until it was so grotesque no one would have been allowed to continue, beautiful performance that woulda been much more dominant if he wasn't old, out of shape and at the end of one of the greatest heavyweight careers ever. Lewis top 5 heavy ever..... Vitali not even top 15, deal with it. Lol at butthurt fanboys trying to discredit wins on cuts haha they've been a part of the sport forever and any real boxing fan would understand and appreciate fighter being tacticians and winning by cuts as much as by KO, pts or tko.

No, it's absolutely not difficult to understand.
Isn't this exactly what most Vitali fans are saying? The topic is not the fight itself, it's why Lennox retired, and everyone including the stupid haters know that there was no clear winner.
Just look how many idiots come here and say Lennox TKO6 Vitali, a fact that most of us can live with? But it stands, as you said, that there was no clear win in this fight. What should have Lennox done, refuse to fight Vitali but fight a bum and retire? That would have looked stupid.

    Still I agree:
    LENNOX TKO6 VITALI

No Clear WINNER !?!?!?!?!?! Are you crazy? it was clear as day! he punched him in the eyE to open a cut and repeatedly punched him there until the fight could no longer continue. How is that not clear? It's as clear as a knockout! If Lewis KO'd Vitali flat in the 6th you fools would say that's not legit because he was losing the rest of the fight. Well by that logic there's a lot of come from behind KO's and TKO's stopped on cuts that should be reversed....some of the greatest wins in boxing history need to be overturned because Klitschko fans are bitter lol. Lennox did this as an old out of shape man int he worst condition in his career an at the end of a HOF career in which he beat every man he ever faced! He owed Vitali nothing, beat his ass by TKO and got out while he still has his brains in tact and his legacy untarnished from fighting on too long like so many others. Prime Lewis in good shape would hve annihilated Vitali.
