As I posted above, according to his most recent interview, he will not fight afterwards.

No, this time off has been good for Vitali's body, he's going to possibly stop Peter or win by UD.

Maybe he'll be, if he gets into the ring.

But hey, Peter is still a couple levels below an old, undertrained, inactive Lummox Lewis and feather-fisted Christina Tyrd, whom both were too much man for a prime Vitali.

It's hard to believe he's 37 already. If that back stiffens up in the fight, then his defense is gone. Combine that with 4 years of rust on his reflexes, and it would be disaster for Vitali.

Yeah except Vitali's shoulder stopped him, not Byrd, and a cut stopped him, not Lewis.

Yeah, the cut just came by itself. It wasn't Lewis who did it to Vitali.

    :rofl

Thanks for that. I hate the twisting of info when it comes to Vitali. Some of his fans post these little "fun facts" to prove his greatness, each needing about 3-4 qualifiers to make sense.

It's a 50/50, wether or not Vitali will even step in the ring against Sam Peter in October. I for one feel Vitali will not be anywhere near what he was, his timing, chin, speed, reflexes, will all be in pretty bad shape.

Sam Peter is not the most fluid fighter in the world, but there's no fighter he fought, that can say didnt have a hard fight against him. He's extremely powerful, tough, and has a very good killer instinct. If Peter could land on the rusty chin of Vitali's, I could see Peter being able to get him out of there.

I'm not 100% sure but I think I've heard somewhere that Vitali doesn't do ring rust.
I'm hoping he can make it through training healthy and make this fight a reality, V. Klitschko has been missed in the HW division since he retired, a real shame as he surely would've been a dominant champion.
Wonder if Vitali will call out Lennox again in the post fight interview if he wins.

    Great post.

I think people really underrate his ability to avoid punches. After going through his career dvd set, it was SHOCKING how many times his opponent barely whiffed on a decapitating shot. And when heavy shots did connect, he ate them.

But the only counter is that Peter, sans Maskaev, hasn't knocked a live body out. So even a washed up Vitali, if he is, should be able to take Peter's shots. Peter hasn't proven he has the power to knock out legit fighters other than the Maskaev outlier.

I hope he comes back as a force; the division needs it.

Perhaps to avenge a serious beating of his brother by Haye. Now that really would be a great story and drama.

*and no I don't really think Haye beats Wlad*
