Dont talk about handpicked oppenents, Wlad called out a one-eyed Brewster who was inactive since his war with Liakhovich in April of 06, which is 15 months of inactivity. Your describing Vitali from 2004, not 2008, there was never a fighter who left after 4 years and came back better or the same, not even legendary fighters such as Tyson or Ali, why would you expect Vitali to do it? The guys skills were nothing special to begin with, aside from his power and chin he lacked many departments, his balance sucked dick, his stamina is questionable, dont remember his footmovement being anything to write home about. Peter is going to hit the 37 yearold Vitali often in this fight, his reflexes are not going to be good as before, which is 100% fact, not even steroids can save him from the beating he's going to take at the hands of Sam Peter.
Come on, the way you guys have been putting down the Heavies today, then it shouldn't take much to beat em. Vitali 50 years old and with two bad knees should take care of Peter. That's if the Heavyweights are as bad as we hear they are. Make up your mind how the heavies are. They can't be bad one day, and then great enough to beat Vitali the next.
Yes, it wasn't dominating as it could have been, but Wlad turned the tables on Peter that 12th round, made me a believer of Wlad after that. Peter hit him with a good right, then Wlad regrouped and made Peter do the baby-walk later in the round. Classic Heavyweight 12th round! Also, the clinching you said reminded me a lot of Ali. And I saw a lot of Ali fights.
You think he's still going to have the same kind of power with a bum shoulder, a bum back and two bum knees?
The Heavyweights division as a whole does suck, but to think a 4 year inactive Vitali is going to come back and pick off the number 2 guy without any warmup fight, is just crazy. I use to like Vitali many moons ago, but I knew he was nothing more than a good chin and a big punch, the guys fighting style is about as sloppy as Jena Haze's ***** after an interacial gang bang, but he was fun to watch.
Sadly in today's Heavyweight Division all you need is a good Chin and punch. Like Larry Merchant recently said "where have you gone Jack Dempsey and Joe Louis?". Bottom line is the Vitali/Peter fight will be an exciting fight perhaps if it lives up to expectations the best since Lennox/Vitali. All I want is an entertainnig fight for the fans.
I see your point, but one round doesnt make the fight anymore dominating, unless it's a knockdown or knockout, something Wlad never got in that fight, where Peter was able to floor his oppenent 3 times, and in the 10th had his man seriously, too bad the bell saved Wlad.
I think you will get an entertaining fight, because Klitschko won't get tired like McCline. Guarantee you that.
Merchant did say "Joe Louis where have you gone", I think he said it during two different Heavyweight matches, I forget which ones though. Peter/Vitali will be an exciting fight while it lasts, and I expect to see Vitali knocked out and Peter the new number one Heavyweight in the world in Ring magazine.
My point being regardless who wins if it is an exciting fight the fans win. We as fans have not had many exciting and meanigfull Heavyweight fights in past years. :good
I like Sam Peter in this fight, No injuries, no long lay offs, has the confidence in knowing he can get off the deck and still win, Sam has learned some things his last few fights and it will not only serve him in this fight, but will give him more conifidence mentally than V Klitschko will have. Vitali will come into this fight knowing in the back of his mind that he has that long lay off, that Peter is a puncher, that he has had several injury set backs, I dont think you want to have that many questions about yourself going into a fight with a puncher like Peter. I like Peter by knock out, Vitali use that jab but in doing so he drops that left hand below his waste leaving an opening for Sam to cash in with a big right hand, not only does Vitali drop that hand low, he also pulls his head straight up when he does to avoid the right hand, Why is this a factor? becuase Peter does not throw a traditional straight right hand peter throws a looping right hand which is perfect for the style that Vitali brings to the fight.
Agreed, I just hope Vitali doesnt back out again, leaving his oppenent and fans high and dry, thats my biggest concern.
If VITLAY can make it through training camp and is 80% of what he was against Danny Williams, he'll win
