Ah, but even the most dominant of champions ( pick one ) had a harder time in some cases vs. lesser compeition than Vitlai has. I can show you , but you have to be willing to listen with objective thinking.
People underestimate how good defensively the guy is. He is very very difficult to hit with a combination. Also overlooked is the fact the guy has the ability to punch while moving his feet. He'd huge and has that long wingspan and moves in the ring. And his 12 round conditioning and work ethic. What this does is to make opponents have to outwork Vitali and have to take 2 or 3 steps to get in range to land. And the other guy just isn't up to that sort of work ethic. Plus, you factor in Vitali landing a high volume of punches from the 10 second mark of the first round. Very few heavies have the mindset to absorb and not have it alter their gameplan==they go into a 75% defensive shell just to stay in there.
I agree. There are a ton of Klitschko haters here in the US and he will likely not get his due but what he has achieved is amazing.
Some one who loves him as much as you obviously do, should lean to spell his name right. It's Vitali, not Vitlai.
Foreman fought about 20 journeyman, before facing a rated opponent... Vitali fought a world titlist who had never been stopped in his first bout back... Since then he has beaten only ranked fighters... You don't think Vitali can beat Michael Moorer, or survive the distance with Holyfield?
I think that some of the views on Vitali's opposition is a bit lop sided. For the record, I don't necessarily think that Sam Peter, Juan Gomez, Kevin Johnson or Chris Arreola were great fighters, but some are also making them out to be tomato cans, and that simply isn't the case. We also have to factor into the equation that Vitali is nearly 40 years old, took 4 years off, and came back to dominate these guys... I can't believe that people don't count that for something..
Bottom line is for a fighter who gets rated so highly h2h, he has one of the weakest resumes of all time.
I don't think so. Peter looked like horse ****, and he would continue to look like horse **** after the fight. Keven Johnson only went into the fight with the intention to survive and he was successful in doing that. The Juan Carlos Gomez victory was a good one and he receives credit for it... What else is there to talk about regarding Vitali Klitschko and his underwhelming resume?
Yeah but he still faced rated opponents, and its almost like he started his second comeback like an entirely new career, which was the correct way to do it. I think Vitali has a hell of a time with Moorer and loses to prime Holyfield as one sided as old Foreman did. I also dont think the likes of Bert Cooper and Alex Stewart are any worse than Arreola or Kevin Johnson or most of Vitalis current and past resume.
Whatever your opinion of the brothers, good or bad, people are soon going to have to realise that there exists a reason for their opponents' seemingly negative survivalist approach(es) other than purported laziness, lack of desire or courage. It's not a coincidence that they all fall into a defensive shell.
You know very well that I have always been one of the key proponents of George Foreman's comeback and think very highly of it.. Hell, I've spent half my time on this forum trying to convince other posters the significance of its value and what a great effort it was... I can't help but acknowledge however, that coming back after a 4 year layoff and right off the bat, beating 4 ring ranked contenders, including a belt holder and in such dominant fashion, deserves credit.. A lot of people here want the guy to suck, but the fact is, he doesn't... If you handed SuzieQ a gun, he'd probably shoot the guy.. As for comparing Foreman's comp to Vitali's during the comeback years, I'd say its close... I think Foreman would have beaten Peter, Gomez, Arreola, and Johnson... But I also think that Vitali would have beaten, Moorer, Cooper, Savarese, Rodriguez and Stewart... I'll also ad that I can't see Klitschko losing to Morrison, Schultz, or Briggs, the way that Foreman did, robberies or not..
