No ****?:huh The way Janitor and McVey talk you'd think them two dude's were each around 120 and ringside for some of them early 20th century epic's with "Jeffries, Burns, Johnson and Dempsey." :yep MR.BILL:hat
Not even close. Vitali is a one of a kind fighter with towering size, active hands, power, counter punching ability, intimidation, a top chin, defensive reflexes, and ring smarts. this is why he has the best rounds won to rounds lost ratio in the history of the ring. Vitali has never been down on the score cards past round three, nor has he lost more then two consensuses rounds in the eyes of the judges. Amazing. Even if you think his opposition is not as good as the 70's or 90's ( I agree ), those guys lost far more rounds to lesser men than Vitali has. To illistrate my point, Ali lost more rounds to Doug Jones, Kenny Norton in one fight than Vitali has in his entire ring career. Willard was easy to hit, did not throw many punches, did not fight as smart, had next to no jab, did not move as well, etc... To compare him to Vitali is like comparing a Ford Taurus to a BMW M5. Both cars are about the same size, but they perform very differently.
I'd say one can find a little bit more visual similarities between Vitali and Carnera - same upright stance, pawing jab, low hands.
He's not an ATG. He's not some H2H monster who "destroyes Tyson via late round TKO". His opposition is bad. Vitali is a good consistent fighter with good longevity. Nothing more, nothing less.
But he's in the Guinness book of world records - that should count for something And Vitali stopped iron-chinned ATG Sosnowski in 10 rounds - not many fighters can say that
vitali is a dumbass if he fights haye.haye could make him look like a slow robot there.no way he catches haye with anything, and even if he does, haye would laugh at him for his slow arm punches
Well, Ring said it was between Froch and Vitali. Ultimately, I think they made the right decision. Froch has now lost 2 of his last 4, just scrapped by the same Glen Johnson Bute shut out and no longer holds a title.
Froch is better than average, he's very good. But point remains, arguing him in the top 10 P4P wouldn't be far removed from arguing somebody like Povetkin.
