Umm, what about Mike Tyson?? Perhaps not the greatest pound for pound but surely worth a place for reviving the sport?

In their primes, Tyson and Jones.

Jones is clearly a greater fighter than Mayweather. Better resume, a better fighter in his prime, better career achievements. He is a level above Floyd IMO. Roy may not have had the eye-catching shoulder-roll of Floyd or lay on the ropes like a savvy slickster, but from 1993-2003 he was simply a more effective fighter. If you analyse both men's opposition and performances fight by fight through their prime years, it's pretty apparent Roy has the edge as a fighter. He was the most brilliant offensive force since peak SRL. Opponents could barely touch him, barely win a round. Superman beats Pretty Boy IMO.

IMO a prime Pea Whitaker never lost a fight and arguably beat Oscar when they fought in a fight in which he clowned dropped and outlanded him. His only real loss came when he was past it against Tito. Holy and Lewis both lost in their prime.

Ive no probs with Roy getting in there ahead of FMJ, I from a personal point of view like Mayweather`s better technical skills.

I rank both over Hopkins tho, no doubt.

I most definitely rank Hopkins higher than Mayweather p4p. His resume is far stronger (that in itself is enough), and the 2001 version of Hopkins was easily as good if not better than any version of Floyd. You are a Calzaghe man though, so it's understandable you underrate the Hop a little. I rank Jones above Hopkins.

2001 Hopkins can run Floyd close but IMO he wasnt as good as several versions of Mayweather Ive seen but thats a close enough contest that we can let that slide as personal opinion. No need for debate on that one.

Also... I dont understand the `underrating Hop because I like Calzaghe` part because Calzaghe got the decision so I was happy + I like Hopkins anyway - maybe if it went the other way I could see why you might think that.

I barely think about Calzaghe these days, I liked what he did once he got in the ring but he`s retired so thats that.. I was always a Morales fan 1st & foremost, Joe was just another of my fav`s, no comparison to Morales in my eyes.

    :thumbsup

Whooh! I don't know how far I'm gonna get against such strong points, but I'll do my best.

No, actually he didn't. You're misinformed. Get your facts straight before attempting to debate next time.

Anyone that isn't a direct member of Chavez's family knows who won that fight, which was officially scored a draw (not a loss, contrary to your belief) by the corrupt, King-controlled judges.

He wasn't shot during the Oscar fight. I'll admit that, even though he was clearly past his prime, and this performance was really his last hurrah. And not to be a stickler, but again, he didn't lose to Chavez, which really puts a dent in your argument.

Even if those decisions were just (the Oscar fight was actually close), I'd much rather have an L to Oscar and a Draw with Chavez on my ledger than KO's against the likes of Rahman and McCall any day of the week. And do you really want to discuss losses when you're defending Evander Holyfield?

Whitaker arguably never lost a fight until he was completely shot against the much bigger, more youthful Trinidad.

All of which is completely irrelevant to anything.

    1. Whitaker
    2. B-Hop
    3. Mayweather
    4. Chavez
    5. Jones

RJJ would have been my top choice but he was caught juicing -- And that's a HUGE demerit in my book.

lewis is definitely underrated...never been in the p4p top 9 in his entire career but easily top 5 in head-to-head match-up...

    lewis over PBF anytime..
