Jones is the guy these boxer people say "why dont mma guys go like 25-0 or whatever well this guy is on another level. He can go 20-0, 30-0, whatever.

he will be his own worse enemy. No one will beat him while he is performing at this level.

 

I swear people just become irrationally ******ed when it comes to Jon Jones. I honestly don't understand how people see him as a totally cocky ******* when he so clearly is no worse than thousands of other fighters, if not better. It's such blind hate that it is genuinely baffling. He may be the greatest light heavyweight of all time, but people can see through their own weird, stupid hatred to appreciate it. I am genuinely perplexed at the amount of hate that he gets.

I don't want to go that route, but I see no other reason than the fact that he is a successful, young, American, black guy. People will argue this to the death, but I just don't know...

This guy should have a massive fanbase, but everyone loves to hate him for no good reason. Maybe I am just pissed because I have been a big fan since Bonnar, and watched him progress, but the lack of respect he receives is sickening.

Also, I have been drinking, so I am sorry if I'm being dumb.

 

Keep deceiving yourselves, Jones most dangerous test was Machida and he nearly killed him.

This sums up my perspective absolutely 100% verbatim.

In every interview I've ever seen with Jones he seems like a genuinely nice, respectable, likable guy.

People seem to blow the smallest thing entirely out of proportion. I remember a post on this very forum about a comment Jones made on a radio show just before the Rampage fight, Jones had said something about how he was going to hurt Rampage a little more because of his behaviour at the pre-fight presser, and the guy who'd made the thread was going off about Jones' arrogance and cocky behaviour and how dare he, etc. when in actual fact (if he'd bothered to listen to the interview he'd know), Jones was joking with Rampage, he'd made the comment sarcastically and they were both laughing the whole time.

 

hendo jones would be a hell of a fight, but i think jj would fight him like rampage and stay the F away from the H-bomb

 

Heard it all before: 'Wait til Shogun/Rampage/Machida do X, Y and Z to Jones' Well guess what? He just cleaned out all the top guys in the division that were playing hot potato with the LHW belt in 12 months without 1 fight going the distance. Hendo will get his chance to be on that list in 2012.

 

I think Hendo is better off chasing the Anderson rematch. JJ will put him on his back, and Hendo, apart from his amazing durability, is as dangerous as a turtle on his back

 

I think the "hate", which I don't have for the actual kid himself, stems more from what I think is the overall hysteria of the hype. Sure he is a great fighter I don't think anyone can't say that, but being regarded as the best ever before he won the title, hell even now he has only defended ittwice now. With the division in my opinion not that great he posibbly COULD hold it for awhile but I think that flashy unorthodox style masks some inefficiences in his stand-up that could possibly be taken advantage of.

Plus you roll in to the fact that he almost annoyingly has to remind us every chance he gets how humble and gracious and appreciative he is. It just comes off as fake.

I'm a NYer too so its not like I have a reason to make this **** up in my head, I just call it as I see it.

Can Hendo beat him? sure. Will Hendo beat him? I wouldn't bet on it. The UFC needs to stock up on its LHW division somehow because everbody except Jones is getting old. Who isn't in their 30's in the LHW division?

 

You see it one way, I see it another. Like I said before I am not pissed I just didn't like it.

For a guy who is so humble and gracious and caring and whatever else he repeatedly says all the time, I thought it was telling.

What the **** are you talking about? He is a professional fighter at the very top level. He cannot act the same in and out of the cage or he would end up in prison on the outside and getting his ass handed to him inside the cage. He conducts himslef one way in public and another way in the ring. WTF is your problem? This makes no sense. He is ruthless, agressive and cold come fight time as he is a PROFESSIONAL FIGHTER! Seroiusly stupid people on here these days.

 

Interesting to see so many writing off Hendo. All it takes is one punch. Henderson has fight altering power. Jones is going to get chin checked.
