Liston had already cleaned out his era before he became champion. When did Vitali ever come close to cleaning out his era? There is no justfication for rating VK over Liston, h2h or accomplishments. VK isn't a top 20 heavyweight of all time, in my opinion.

Well, doubt remains still over the nature of the 2nd fight, and in the first, Liston wasn't off his feet but quit, claiming a shoulder injury. By the same token, Vitali quit over a shoulder injury when in a far better position against Byrd than Liston against Ali.
