In all honesty, I don't think Walcott was finished at that point, but he would have been later on. I think Walcott just wanted to get it over with... he could have made his departure look a little better, however
It's hard to say how long it would have really lasted, Sal. I'm thinking mid to late rounds. I've always thought Walcott took a dive in this one - it was pretty obvious really. It's my own opinion that he knew what was going to happen eventually and wished to avoid more punishment.
Thanks for responding to my queery as to wether there was a rematch clause. I think only Walcott knew why he didn't make the count. It's not like an 8-count fight were you comeup quick as you can and bounce to get your legs back. He certainly wouldn't be the first guy to take a hard shot and mistime his rise.
