Boxers aren't generally well educated guys. Obviously there's exceptions like Barrera, Cleverly etc
Better they are religious i suppose if it makes them respect others and have a positive outlook on life.

Then again Mike Tyson is religious.

Everything is not black and White. Look at pacquiao, he thinks it's just his job, doing it as means to make money and do his countrymen proud by representing them at the international level. He prays for the health of his opponents despite bashing their faces in. It seems contradictory but he beleives he just doing his job.

Maybe he thinks boxing is not forbidden in his religious beleifs so he sees it as just a job. They talk about god afterwards, because they beleive gods influence or power is not limited to stuff outside the ring. Therefore why should they just mention god only at certain times.

Floyd still has a point about God because if you yourself has the same trainers, worked just as hard or even more than Floyd does, you probably still couldn't reach his level. There are boxers that work harder than even Floyd does and can't become contenders because they weren't GIVEN certain gifts that someone like Floyd has.

To all the anti religion posters, why can't YOU do what Ward does even under the exact same circumstances? Why can't YOU do what Floyd does under the same trainers. Why can two fighters have the same trainer, fight the same way, be equally skilled and yet one gets beaten and the other doesn't?

So that means god is pretty much a mean guy if he helps floyd mayweather of all people yet doesnt care about millions of kids who die on a daily basis in Africa?
God is either sadistic/doesnt care/ doesnt excist.
I dont really dislike religion as much as it might seem now though, I usually respect the belief others even if I disagree with it, just dont believe in the gods plan stuff.

He's thanking God for blessing him with the proper genes to become a great fighter. There is nothing wrong with a fighter having faith, or choosing not to.

And you have a right to choose to believe that. Just like people have the right to believe in God. What get's me, is when people have such a strong opinion on a certain religion but have not even taken the time to understand it or read, or have any idea what's really going on.

I have actually read the old testament of the bible, its a pretty good read, god is brutal.
I didnt mean to sound disrespecting though, sorry if it appeared that way.
Everyone is entitled to believe what they feel is right and helps them in life imo.

Many people abuse the principles of their religions, but that doesn't make them faithless bad people, although it does make them seem quite ignorant. A man with no faith at all has been fooled by reality in my eyes. I personally have my own faith in a way, I guess you could call it Buddhism or Taoism that I believe in but I don't actively practice alot of the things or follow all the beliefs.
