    Bute's chin is ****

As soon as he takes a decent shot he looks visibly shaken

You have also left out that he was knocked out by Andrade

Bute got knocked out against Andrade and Froch. You CAN'T see the Andrade fight as a victory he was down like 20 seconds period.

So ward has the better Chin.

Ward took some decent shots off Miranda and Abraham as well. I think Ward sees punches coming better than Bute does, and that is the main difference between two good, but less than stellar chins.

In addition, Bute tends to panic a bit when he gets hurt. Ward stays calm, and that is another difference.

These are just opinions. Somewhat speculative.

Interesting post. Ward has shown a better defense than Bute, but Bute has never been put over by a fighter of D Boones level.
Tough one. I dont think either has the best chin but Ward has learned this and now has a better defence after fighters like Kost nearly cost him

you rate butes chin better even though he has been KTFO in one fight, knocked down and silly in another wile ward was wobbled 1 time in his 9th fight. and ward has fought 10 times better competition. you are delusional

I don't know how to rate Bute's chin just yet. Will wait for the Froch Bute 2. As far as comparing the chins of Bute and Ward goes? There's no way anyone can confidently pick the better because the fighting styles are too different. Ward will never face a barrage of punishment like Bute did. His defense is too good.

Your post is full of non-sequiturs.

You think you have an argument, but you don't.

Yeah, I have good reasons for thinking Bute's chin is slightly better. I saw it stand up to flush power-punches from one-shot KO fighters. Haven't seen Ward's take those shots.

Ward probably recovers faster from a shot than Bute, but Bute can take the better shot without going down.

Bottom line is both of them have proved (especially Bute) to have good enough chins for it not to be a limiting factor at world-class level. End of story for me.

Chins are only worth talking about iff:-

    a) they are letting the fighter down because they are sub-par compared to everything else (e.g. in the case of Khan)

    or

    b) they are allowing the fighter to overachieve because they are a lot better than every other aspect of his game (e.g. in the case of Margarito)

This isn't the case with either Bute or Ward.

    HOLY ****! "Ward was wobbled.":patsch

Tighten up bro! Ward did a chicken-dance that would make Zab Judah proud, and his opponent was DARNELL BOONE! I realize it was only his ninth fight, but nevertheless, if his opponent would have been Dionisio Miranda, or somewhat on that level, he would have been KTFO! God only knows what Zuniga or Brinkley would have done to him that night!

After that fight, Ward's level of competition dropped dramatically, and did not come back up until 3-4 fights later. It wasn't until about ten fights later that they put him in with Edison Miranda, and he had a much harder time with a beat up and burned out Miranda than Pavlik and Abraham had with a younger fresher model! (I'm referring to AA/EM II.)

Ward has put together a damned impressive string of wins, but don't pretend like **** that is ON FILM did not happen.

Ward took some Froch shots. Bute got killed by Froch's shots. I'll say Ward.

I think Bute lost the fight because of his leg infection. They should have cancelled it.
