Butlers decision or warrens?? Will he stay with gallagher?? Who will butler now sign for?? Shame it's been stop start for a few years good talented boxer. Thought Warren could do with keeping as many fighters as possible?
tbh i think paul butler has done all he can at world level. he hasn't improved much since winning his titles and imo leaving farnell was a silly move, i think he would have been better off looking at himself and trying to improve rather than run away to a coach who will take away some of his natural skills and sharp boxing. just my opinion i suppose
Another stalled career. Lovely boxer Burler....doomed to inactivity and a wasted career just like so many others. Warren did nothing for him, warren is no loss to him. What a shame....
good post I really like paul but your right big mistake leaving Farnell I remember paul as an amateur he was a bit stiff at times then turned over with Farnell who changed his style to a relaxed fluent fighter I hope paul doesn't let Gallagher change the way he fights now that would be a big mistake
Think it was not getting the McDonnell fight was the straw that broke the camels back?? Seen Dave coldwells interview today saying it was all signed and sealed double header on the billy jo Saunders card which obviously collapsed.
Surely not. That would have , should have, set up a rematch with tete, plus with warrens clout lots of other fights too. So why hasn't this happened. Warren hasn't delivered for Paul, for some reason.
Paul has reached his level. You really think Butler wanted to go back in with Tete? He was beaten easily and would have been destroyed in a rematch.
Butlers not had a big fight since Tete been promised the McDonnell fight, Matchroom were under believe for months fight was happening then fight been pulled by Queensberry, no wonder Butler wanted out.
Ok, but even if that's true he hasn't been getting ANY fights. Really no good for him. Wasting his career. Might as well move on. Warren doing nothing for him.
His ONE fight this year has been vs a nonentity who'd lost 5 of his previous 6! You honestly think that's good enough? Would YOU be happy with that standard of management?
We don't know what's gone on behind the scenes to properly judge how good or bad Butler has been treated. Warren was clearly trying to get the McDonnell fight and I remember Hearn even saying that they received a very good offer and he was ok with Jaime going over to take the fight so Frank was backing him. From there something has clearly gone wrong which I'm sure Frank and maybe Paul will comment on in the near future.
Frank probably wanted Butler to sign a contract extension before paying McDonnell a fortune to come over and slap him around for 12 rounds...I reckon Paul refused (no doubt Gallacher was in his ear as well) so Frank pulled back his offer and the contract expired - I Reckon that's roughly the deal.
