This isnt a surprise. Naz wa £££ to Warren. Naz was exciting in the ring, oozed charisma and was pure box office. he was never gonna be as good as the major rivals in and around his weight class but if when it comes to star appeal Naz had it. U wont see another one like him. Hatton was popular but with Naz it was different.
Tell you what folks... Naz was a fighter you wanted to WATCH. Sweet scientist? No, and that's what let him down, ultimately. He was hugely talented. He had the power, the speed and the reflexes. Even at his laziest and most self-indulgent it took an ATG to beat him. It'll be a long time before we see his like again.
Nah !! He was probably the most naturally talented and gifted fighter this country has ever produced (at least in the last 50 years) but he's nowere near the best, for that title you'd be looking at guys like Jimmy Wilde or Ted Kid Lewis .. Naz was far better than Calzaghe .. Calzaghe never had the guts to step out of this country and he only did that when Hopkins and Jones had denigrated to such a level that he thought he could beat them .. How long did Calzaghe hold onto that WBO belt making naff defences against total bums .. Naz wont be viewed much kinder, Barerra was the best fighter he fought by an absolute mile and it wasnt even close, but by then Naz was spending more time looking at himself in the mirror than training ..
Hamed was a bit of a natural. If he trained as hard as Hatton or Calzaghe you would have to wonder how much better he could be. Hamed wasn't even a featherweight. He turned pro at Super Flyweight and if he trained hard he probably should have been a Bantamweight and then moved up to 122.
Morales starched? gimme a break. I said there would be a better chance of drawing Morales into a brawl than Barrera, as Erik fought with more emotion, but it doesn't mean there is a big chance of it happening. That's just clutching at straws for ways Hamed could win. With the threat Hamed carried, Morales would be much more smarter. Morales has a doctorate in boxing compared to Naz. With his style advantage, brillient footwork he would be the big favourite. Erik would neutralize him with the jab, everytime Naz corked and loaded up his punches, Morales would slip them, force him to go off balance and counter down the middle and over the top with that right hand. Sorry, but Hamed loses to people with this type of boxing acumen and intangibles. Put it this way, with Morales' boxing ability coupled with his heart and incredible chin at his peak, there's more chance of him schooling and outboxing Hamed, than there would be of Naz landing a hail mary and KOin Morales. This is the guy who took everything Pacquiao had to offer, in the 12th round when he was close to being passed it, which gives you an indication of how solid his whiskers were.
