Nady came late to access the situation, Barerra after losing much of the 7th round landed a beautiful right hand that put JMM down, it seemed Barerra was confused and threw another punch to put JMM down after the fact, as if maybe Nady didn't see the punch that dropped marquez to begin with. Was he in the wrong?
Both the referee and Barrera were in the wrong but even if the knockdown had been scored I still would've had Marquez winning. For me the round would've only been a 10-9 round for Barrera because Marquez dominated the round from memory and I had it 10-8 Marquez before the incident at the end.
Barrera was definitely wrong - there is no situation in which a fighter has been grounded, whether a slip or a genuine knockdown, where it’s acceptable to hit a fighter when they are clearly grounded and Marquez was clearly grounded. Nady obviously did a bad job in creating a measure of uncertainty but that’s not an excuse.
