Was Brewster considered too dangerous as a short notice WBA replacement?

I doubt they considered Brewster too dangerous. Just things didn't add up (preparation timing, training etc etc), Not only that but Kali is ranked higher on the WBA ranking (which is worth about 84 cents and a library card but still) so he would get the shot first.

As per who won Meehan/Brewster, Brewster won on my meaningless card but only by a small margin. Calling it a robbery is wrong.

Well yeah. Lamon is half blind at this point.

And yet I'd still favor him over Valuev.

Brewster had only trained for an 8-round fight, so he turned it down.

Meehan, on the other hand, is a sketchier story. I suspect Valuev had cramps in his massive hairy vagina at the thought of fighting someone he didn't train to face. Valuev's camp made some excuse about Meehan's people not wanting to negotiate until they got to Germany or something, which seems like BS based on what they said to the Daily Telegraph before any other news came out about the fight being off.

i cant imagine a heavyweight boxer turning down a shot at the title because he trained for an "8 round" fight....lamon is old and its probably his last chance,,,i call bull**** on him turning something like that down....

Don't think that severely weight drained Valuev would be
able to defend himself against such monster as Brewster.

Valuov trained to fight a left hander.
    Has not studied Meehan.

And a day and a 1/6 is a bit short to switch around.

Plus was Meehan in real training?

Get your facts straight. Chagaev did not pull out and was ready to face Valuev. The fight was cancelled even though facts about Chag having hepatitis B have been in the public domain for years (he's had it for at least five years now). In fact when they first fought Chag had the very same hepatitis B as well.

Since Sauerland must have known about Chag's health, it smells of them planning to do this all along, thus preventing a dangerous encounter and in the process blaming the whole thing on Chagaev (whether Chagaev should continue fighting despite hepatitis B is an altogether different matter...).

Brewster didn't look great last time out, so probably not.
