Was Calzaghe avoided?

did anyone ever hear hopklns say that, or are you going by what frank warren and calzaghe are saying? anyone ever consider that warren could've been lying? it wouldn't be the first time.

 

I don't think that counts, Jones was already past it by that time... I believe he would have never avoided him if it was on his prime

Manfredo......REF ALL THE WAY. I Guess Joe did not feel like actually fighting that night. So the ref gave him time off of work. Manfredo was not hurt in the slightest in one of the worst stoppages of boxing history. Need the **** I say more.

Manfredo was getting pummelled. He wasn't badly hurt, but he was getting knocked out, no doubt about it

Manfredo shoulda been DQ'ed for not giving his best. He froze. He threw nothing the entire fight. After taking 30 odd shots (mostly light admittedly) without a single reply the ref stepped in to stop the embarasment.

Tell me then which win is better. Blown up welterweight Tito Trinidad? Antwun Echols? Another blown up welter in DLH? William Joppy? Joe Lipsey?

Ill tell you what theres a strong argument that beating Glen Johnson...that is busting his cherry before he became a little loss ***** is the pinnacle of Hopkins career...

I know it hurts but Hopkins has only faced three fighters worthy of comparison to Kessler: RJJ, Taylor and Tarver. And guess what he lost to two of them! Furthermore most are of the belief that Taylor is himself inferior to Kessler! And if you actually think Antonio' i got my ass kicked by Eric Harding, split bouts with loss ***** Johnson and my sole claim to fame is knocking out a shot to pieces RJJ' is better than Kessler you need your head examined.

So please, name me a win on Hopkins record that is better than Calzaghes over Kessler. And no Robert Allen isn't an option.

Yea...i was going to put in Eastman where Robert Allen is at the end there but i just couldn't ignore the fact that Hopkins managed a trilogy against that guy :yep

The point im trying to make is that i believe Hopkins and Calzaghes resumes are very comparable for the most part. But i honestly feel that B-Hop lacks a victory the magnitude of a Kessler so in my mind its pretty ****ing unfair for Hopkins nut huggers to attack JCs record with this in mind.

Also, in regards to the overall point of the thread, i think there isn't anyone JC could have really faced up until 2005 that would have substantially added to his resume. The two that would have in my mind that is messers Hopkins and Ottke certainly avoided him and we can't blame JC for that...especially in Hopkins case.
