I'm not sure why they fought. I think he was just giving the heavyweights a last try, cuz he never did every fight another name heavyweight ever again. I think the reason they fought was just to draw a crowd. U not like Foster or something?

Foster said there was a lot more money fighting heavyweights, hence his frequent trips to the division. Ali and Frazier were probably his biggest paydays.

No I thought he was great light heavyweight champion but not fighter of the year in 1972, it's winning fighters, Muhammad Ali was another good choice. But i do believe you are buying into the hate Carlos thing with your racist friend.

You are correct, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. They are good at what they do.

Opinion yes, but not like, "Oh, Ray Robinson is my favorite fighter", you know, they analyze these things. The fighters are logically ordered and analyzed, though you're right, it's still opinion. It's just logically argued.

Bob Foster wasn't fighter of the year with the loss to Ali no matter which way you try to shuck and jive it. Not even close.

A pound for pound list of the 70's would have been dominated by Ali, Monzon and Duran.

Duran would be right in the mix all the way from 74 up until quitting against SRL in 80. He had to get revenge on De Jesus before he could be elevated to such heights.

I reckon from about 73 or 74 until retiring Monzon would be in the mix. Napoles would have been vying as well from mid 71 and 72/73.

Ali possibly may have topped the list after beating Foreman and maybe stayed there for a bit depending on how performances vs Young and Norton down the track were perceived.

Duran was the P4P fighter of the decade.

C'mon. Ali looked pathetic that yr.. In his own division Foster was steam-rollin'. Ali was barely getting by.
