Yeah we all know the stories, the claims, and the rest of it. I'm not going after Duran, I'm just pointing out how ludicrous the comments were TBF.

 

Yeah WB, bless him, just fixates on punchers and brawlers lol. If the boxer lands 55 punches and the puncher lands one big clean one it's the punchers round, bro lol. If it's 55 clean lighter punchers vs one huge punch that only partially connected, well we'll call that round even!

Literally has an attitude that some of us don't know how to score fights or misunderstand boxing and then comes off with things like a real man would X or Y. Shows a complete misunderstanding of how boxing has operated for decades.

Based on that logic you can't respect Mike Tyson not waiting for x and y fighter to make it through rehab, deffo can't rate the Spinks fight then with his bad knees and whatnot and can't rate the Holmes fight, with his being flabby and ring-rusty.

I've never heard a serious fight fan claim to hate a fighter based on their fight style and not something like "They hit women" or "He's a convicted rap1st" or "He intentionally fouls and endangers the safety of his opponent or their long-term ability to seek a livelihood boxing".

It's not called the sweet science for no reason - hit and not get hit and there's no obligation on a fighter to stand toe to toe and get their brains bashed in. Floyd did plenty of that when he was PBF, standing in the pocket and trading, giving us fights like the spectacle that is Burton but look at the cost and imagine that multiplied across the whole career - hit by unnecessary shots against a lesser fighter. It makes for exciting fights for us, but also has an impact on long-term health.
