In my opinion Calzaghe would have been at 175 in the days when there was no 168... I think the extra a 8 lbs would have drained him quite a bit. So he was a good sized SMW.

I actually watched the Lacy and Kessler fights last night so I feel compelled to comment for once. Joe was a great boxer and I can't understand the hate he gets round here.

But he should move down on in weight to fight a guy with no international standing, for less money, who is on record as saying he doesn't want to fight him because it would be too much of a challenge. He didn't look like the biggest super middleweight but looks can be deceptive. He talked about struggling to make super middleweight quite early in his career and said he usually walked in the ring around the 180lbs mark, so he wasn't huge but a good sized super middle. Before the Hopkins fight he said he usually walked around at 14 stone which is 196lbs, so he definitely wasn't small at all.
