Was Kovalev "given" the title to make amends for past mistreatment?

Had Kovalev defeated the number one WBO contender, Gvozdyk, to win the title, then my answer probably would have been "no". But since he defeated a guy who wasn't even rated by the WBO when the fight was signed to win the strap, the answer would be "yes".

 

Maby not because of past mistreatment, but because he still as the better name.

 

Why do you think that?
I thought Kovalev deserved the decision in the first fight and felt he was ahead in the 2nd before he suffered what looked low blows. I think Kovalev was elbowed earlier in the 2nd Ward fight and just got on with it.
Do you think it is mentally stronger when you resort to not fighting within the rules to win?

 

More victim painting. Ward mentually screwed Kov and it had nothing to do with corruption or cheating. Majority of people don’t know how to score a fight so I don’t really care how you scored the first one. The second fight doesn’t matter. We all saw Kovalev fold up like a lawn chair and was saved from quitting in the ring which is what he did. Ward was within the rules and didn’t blantantly cheat.

Sullivan Barrera was ginev the fight first but declined due to money then they went down the rankings until finally #10 Shabranskyy accepted.

You saw Kovalev fold over after being hit by some punches that looked low.
I think you saw Ward fold when he had to start hitting low and I think using an elbow at one point.
If someone is unfairly cheated they are a victim. You cant victim paint if there isnt a story to begin with and we both know there is.
